I'm a Father | Spouse | Son | Brother | Nephew | Born & Raised Alaskan | Librarian and more. I tend be socially progressive and fiscally conservative, but have become a one-issue voter of late, especially now that I have a teenage daughter.
It’s a sign things are changing when the die-hard trailer park Trump enthusiast is selling his “famous trailer park 2016 and 2024 Trump sign.”

When you compare it to the last 12 months, it's actually very low.

The M/V Columbia has been in serious danger on its latest run to Bellingham.

“The Captain has held at least 4 emergency briefings with the 40 passengers on board the ship!”

These poor animals had to be abandoned due to the mandatory evacuation of humans from the village of Kipnuk. Owners had to leave their pets. Bethel Friends of Canines is helping to find, fly out and care for these animals.

If you can join me, any donation helps.

Trump’s speech to the Navy could have been one of the most expensive rallies ever…if those sailors were getting paid. Just another unpaid workday for 10,000 sailors.

The Costco in Juneau offers all the vaccines that I could t find at other pharmacies.

Somebody needs to distract him with a Voodoo doughnut. Maybe then he would stop the invasion of Portland.

Elfin Cove landslide:

“She said one man was hit by debris and knocked off a dock, and managed to get himself out of the water safely. Everyone in the community has been accounted for and no injuries have been reported, but several homes and a cafe were damaged.”

Bye, bye Hulu Premium + Live TV, Disney+ Premium, and ESPN Select and unlimited screens. That’s a $128/month drop out of Disney’s bottom line. It’s not much, but it’s my contribution to the first amendment.

This journey that takes time leaves me with memories on the taste buds for a year. The flavor of jarred huckleberry jam is sunshine in a bottle, a unique delicacy.

It was one of those magical warm summer weekends in Southeast Alaska. The temps were in the 70s on top of the mountain, where the dog was so tied she laid down and fell asleep. I buried my head in many creeks. I didn’t take enough pictures because they couldn’t represent the beauty. #alaskasky

Riding “out the road” in Juneau with my daughter on my 25 year old Honda Nighthawk. She’s been saving up for her own bike and is so excited to get her permit next year so she can start driving.

Last weekend was such a great time to hike with a friend and the dog. Granite Creek Basin offered excellent salmonberries, blueberries, whistling marmots, and snow to cool our seltzers. I love Alaska summer. #alaska

In response to the Congressional gutting of public broadcasting, KMXT, the Kodiak public radio station serving a community of ~5,000 people, raised $125k in just one day.

Safely riding in control, and anticipating the bear about to pop out of the woods, requires all my present thought. There is no room for thinking about the many things wrong with the world. It’s just me and my bike on a summer day and an empty road.

While cleaning out my uncle’s condo this winter I found something else from that era, a token of appreciation for being an Alaska Airlines high miles earner. They gave him a small sealed gold bar, only 1 gram, but still. I’ve flown a ton and never received any gold from the airlines. (Not my photo)

Lisa Murkowski was born in Ketchikan, AK. Her vote might have just closed its only hospital and largest medical provider for all of southern Southeast Alaska.

Happy Canada Day! I've never wanted to become more like you than today, so that's a win. Thankfully, one of my kids dreams of attending a University in Canada, so we will do everything we can for him to realize that dream. Thank you Canada for giving us hope for a better future.

I think I’m in love. What better way to spend a quiet day at home before the family comes home tomorrow, the pouring rain tapping away on my warm log home while I tinker on my new strings.
