She grinned back, yelled out “Geist’s here!” and had the pleasure of seeing him wince at the sound. The team reappeared with surprising swiftness, and it was just… weird seeing Shade drape himself over Geist like he was claiming his favorite armchair. And frankly disturbing that Geist seemed to have no problem wrapping an arm around him in turn.

I'm about 4k words into a new prequel mini-novella featuring one of my favorite characters, and I am slightly feral about it.

But the timing and the fact that my sciifi series ended up in reverse harem territory (MMF) was NOT on my outline.

One of those occasions where my female protagonist wouldn't take no for an answer, and the series is soooo much better for it (link in bio).

For my most interesting couple, sex didn't actually change anything because it was need based, not romantic (it's happened in the middle of an ongoing galactic war, after a particularly bad op - they needed to feel human again). It took them another fifteen years to get together properly 😆

Text page reading: Of all the places Geist could have brought him, he’d chosen the one place, the only environment that had actively felt like it hated him during his scouting days. It would be so easy to step out into the snow and become just another ice statue on Iveros. Except Geist would probably defrost him and that would put his recovery even further behind. The door slid open behind him, washing warm air over his back. Geist didn’t say anything, but he did step forward and wrap an arm around him. Baseline stabilization protocol, old friend? “I thought you preferred the term tactical cuddles.” It made Matt chuckle, but the cold air caused a coughing fit and Geist ended up hauling him bodily back inside and dumping him on a giant couch with a blanket like a child. An impression that was not helped but the mug of steaming hot chocolate Geist pressed on him a few minutes later. Even it was very good.
