just came back from a Heated Rivalry marathon at a friend's; watched the whole show, my 1st time for ep 6, her 3rd. I made her hold my hand for much of it. SO GOOD. Can't wait to see it again, and hopefully have my turn showing it to someone!

just finished episode 5 of Heated Rivalry and I spent the entire time going alternately "oh, bunny" and "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA", except when I was doing both at once

I am very pleased with this CBC article on managing menstruation in space that is entirely gender-neutral about menstruators! (Not everyone it quotes is, but that's not under CBC's control.)

One small step for periods in space, one giant leap for research in long-term space missions | CBC News
It may still be an uncomfortable subject for some, but periods are a real thing that people need to manage. But what do astronauts do in space? Well, they have some options, but now they may have one ...

Potato is my love language

Air frying is my accent
in some languages, they don't say "I love you", they say "I made sure Future You would have a potato", and I think that's beautiful

“Have Yourself A Merriam Little Christmas”

Merriam, a career-oriented lexicographer from the city, returns to her small town for the holidays and meets Webster, a ruggedly handsome librarian, who shows her the true DEFINITION of Christmas.

Her "One Night in Boukos" is only 99¢! That was the first one of hers I read and it hooked me HARD.
Interested in reading some queer romance to relax after buying all the things (or staunchly resisting the call to buy all the things)? I have some ebooks on sale:

Discount SOMEFRIDAY2025 applies only on ebooks and is good through Sunday night Eastern Time.

Can confirm, this is a great app/set of apps!
Heads-up, my favourite recipe manager app, Paprika, is on sale right now. 40% off the mobile apps, 50% off the desktop apps. They offer a sync service across devices, but you pay upfront for the app(s), not for a sub for the service (it's free)! They make it really easy to get your data in and out!

I don't even do Yuletide, but I was thinking the other day about a Yuletide Advent calendar that would just have a bear behind every little door

Two parallel streams:

1) I got a master's in history, volunteered at a history journal to gain more familiarity with the field, and to my shock was immediately asked to heavily edit articles, and

2) I beta-read a lot of fanfic

I'm doing an old NYT crossword puzzle, and I've just encountered this clue:

"Famed orange troublemaker."

Five letters.

I am extremely tempted to give up on completing the words around it, just so I can fill that one in as it deserves rather than whatever the NYT wanted me to put there...

Heads up that this production (which also stars Lupita Nyong'o as Viola, and her brother Junior as Sebastian) will be airing on PBS on Friday night. I cannot WAIT.

The book I'm reading just referred to "the English jet set," which would be fine except that it's discussing the 1830s.

Last night I saw Cheyenne Rouleau's "Fat Joke," a hilarious & absolutely wrenching 90-min monologue on fatphobia and a whole lot of other things. It's online at digitalstage.ca/fat-joke/. (NB content notes! & she also discusses traumatic, near-fatal pregnancy complications.) Highly recommended.

I am female and fem-presenting, out to dinner in a Welsh hotel & pub with a 6-ft bearded man. We order a pint of beer and a half-pint of cider. Waiter arrives with two glasses and asks, "Who had the cider?"

I really appreciate that, when they don't assume. 😍🍻
