I've been reliably told that alcohol-fuelled parties are still happening, and I shared this advice about how to make new friends and be a hero. One of them took my advice, and now has a new girlfriend because of this. The key to the following advice is an element of secrecy because the surprise makes it even better. Arrive late and sneak Lasagna into the party. I mean, taking a large, catering-sized tray of lasagna, along with a stack of paper plates and forks, to a raging house party. I used to do this back in college. I'd make one, sometimes two, in the afternoon in big foil trays before goin to a party. Show up around 10.30pm, and slip them into the oven without asking permission telling anyone. Medium heat for 30 minutes to warm it up. Get my paper plates out, and shout: "Lasagna is ready" to a packed house of drunk people, and hand them all a fork. It's cheaper than bringing beer, no clean-up, and I got laid pretty often. Important note: Make sure the person who owns the oven is the first in the line, and don't make a mess. Maybe make one meat and one vegan or something... This last point was less of a concern back in my day, but we must move with the times.

Respite after the calamity
After a long, one hundred years, the princess and her knight could not bear to be pulled from each other again. Warm afternoon sun floods the cozy bedroom of Link’s home, silhouetting the pair, their bodies begging to be closer. Zelda cherishes the touch of his hair, relishing in his being, that he’s whole with her again. It had been so long since she’d been in the presence of her lover, or anyone for that matter. She kisses him deeply, feeling him, breathing him in, trying to satiate the yearning of her heart. Link returns her touch and pulls her in closer. Ph how he needed this. This comfort was enough to make him suffer through it all again. He notes the softness of her skin, despite the suffering she spent all this time. Link searched for the words, thank you for waiting, thank you for your strength, but the words never felt like enough.

Collecting/saving nice comments is a great coping skill because it forces us to engage with, remember, and catalogue positive interactions, which helps override our brain’s usual impulse to fixate on negative interactions.

It’s important—healthy, even!—to give more weight to our positives.

I have rejection sensitivity, so I started a folder on my PC called “Nice Things,” where I keep screenshots of compliments, good-news emails, fanart of my OCs others made, etc. So now when my imposter syndrome brain tells me I’m Bad at Art, I can pull up evidence to the contrary. ☺️

PSA to Canadians buying stuff from the states: the "broker fee" that UPS leverages is something you can opt out of. I have saved $100 so far this year doing this. I wish I'd known sooner; I thought the fee UPS sometimes charges on International packages was basically a convenience fee. (1/6)
