An adult driver angry at a child they hit with their car.

Our car culture summed up in one video.

Police in Airdrie, Alberta (just north of Calgary) say this driver hit a 17-year-old girl in a marked crosswalk, got out of the vehicle, and appeared to get upset at the teenager before driving away.

They released this video and are now trying to identify the driver.

At that speed, yes you would kill someone.

Is this the part of the 1.5 km of work the Canadian engineering firm Stantec was hired by the province to help remove?

Asking for a friend (and professional engineers horrified that a "reputable" firm accepted this contract everywhere).

I got doored 12 years ago now. I was moving at a fast clip along a main road. I sustained a concussion, broke my nose, fractured my elbow, sprained my wrist and my knee and sustained multiple lacerations. You bet it matters, the asshole should've been charged, but like a coward, he took off.

This is hardly a surprise when our Premier is actively endangering vulnerable road users by tearing out bike lanes and speed cameras, and has publicly stated that he thinks speeding is no big deal. But sure, tell us how it's all Ottawa's fault.

The thing is most of these tickets are being tossed probably involved people driving or their passengers being hit by other dangerous drivers...it's a disservice to all road users.

My former supervisor in NYC died as a result of someone dooring her.

She did everything right to stay safe as she commuted by bicycle; she was crucial in getting cycling infrastructure in the Bronx.

All it took was one man who didn’t look.

His door hit her and sent her into oncoming traffic…

I would love to chime in on that next time

The Ontario Court System is in shambles & under resourced. Prosecutors in Toronto are prosecuting cyclists while letting drivers who injured VRUs off the hook. In 2019, 57K HTA charges in Ontario were withdrawn. This year that number has skyrocketed to 253K.

Jon Woodward discusses how Ontario’s plans to do away with speed cameras presents a possible struggle for the province to hold bad drivers accountable.

On Sep 19, a pickup truck driver killed a mother while hospitalizing her 3-year-old daughter and husband.

103 pedestrians/cyclists were killed or severely injured by motorists in #Guelph last year - none by cyclists.

GPS priorities: 🗑️

On September 19, someone's mom was killed in Guelph by the driver of a pickup truck. The driver has now been charged. (Mom was killed but her husband and 3-year-old daughter in a stroller were struck as well!!!)

On August 29, a Guelph cyclist was killed by the driver of a garbage truck. The driver has now been charged.

But today, the @guelphpoliceservice announce a month long campaign of enforcement against people on bikes to ensure they know the rules of the road?

This is a police service demonstrating a failure to adequately respond to road safety issues. It lacks compassion and empathy for the two people (and their families) who were killed by dangerous and careless drivers. The Service should be reviewed and it's priorities dictated to it by Guelph City Council as GPS appear unable/unwilling to address the true dangers on our roadways.

The lack of compassion, understanding, nuance, etc. boils our blood and rocks our faith in the Service to it's core. I doubt we are alone.

Ride safe Guelph Cycling friends, the law is after you.

Name a police station after Sewell

(Sewell was voted out after he defended the gays after the bathhouse raids and had been a fairly consistent cop critic)

Interesting. The only two Toronto mayors I can think of that don’t have anything named for them right now are David Miller and John Sewell.

After this, it’d only be Sewell.
