Mark! Thank you. Without doubt photography lovers should make space for this in their collection of zines and books.

I understand now why this moment pulled me in.

While framing the image, something stirred, a memory of the old Constable print that hung in my grandma’s house. Quietly, it surfaced. Unconscious, but not forgotten.

I'm in The Times Magazine today. 2000 words of my writing (an adapted excerpt from my book 'Drystone - A Life Rebuilt')

And it's not really about living with my ex husbands. It's about the roles women are handed and how I just absolutely refuse!

A full-page opener from The Times Magazine with the headline “I Live With Two Men. Both Are My Ex-Husbands.” On the right page is a full-length portrait of Kristie De Garis standing inside her home next to an open front door, wearing high-waisted jeans and a black blouse. Behind her hangs a large abstract painting in vibrant colours. The text introduces the piece as an exploration of modern parenting, unconventional cohabiting, and the logistics of living with two former partners. A two-page magazine spread from The Times Magazine, featuring a personal essay titled “There Are Tensions. I Refused to Make Dinner Until They Both Learnt to Cook.” The left-hand page includes a photo of the author, Kristie De Garis, standing outside by a dark wooden shed in a denim boiler suit. The right-hand page features a second photo of her in a long floral dress on her wedding day. The essay details her unconventional domestic life living with both of her ex-husbands.

Dominoes is more than a game. For the Windrush generation + their descendants. It's a gateway that bridges generations, blends cultures, + echoes the rhythm of home on foreign soil.

Sung by those photographers who twist light, blur truth + call it art.

The anthem of the gaslighter behind the lens:

I’m the shutter-shaker, story-fabricator
I’m the truth-eraser, focus-manipulator
I’m a gaslighter, slick gaslighter
You’re the subject, warped exposure.

My last view of Jamaica.
Land we love.
Tourists arrive free.
Windrush left with no return.
Cruise ships dock.
Migrant boats are blocked.
Souvenir shops sell island life but not Marcus Garvey.
The colonial era is over,
but its passport still decides who gets welcome.

I'd urge anyone who can to watch this documentary. As a young man, I read a lot about the Vietnam War. As I've got older, too. This documentary lays it out in a way I'd not experienced before. The way it dovetails into the now is powerful.

This thought-provoking documentary series examines the harrowing consequences of the Vietnam War, from the Gulf of Tonkin incident to the fall of Saigon.

Revolution doesn’t always wear a slogan.

Sometimes it sounds like dominoes slapping wood and a story told over rum.

The rum shop is a classroom. A confessional. A strategy room in disguise.

Freedom dreams live here. Ask Robin D.G. Kelley.

Dominoes is more than a game. In Jamaica, it's strategy, rhythm and resistance.

You don’t choose your hand, you choose how you play it.

As Robin D. G. Kelley says, even play is political.

In dominoes, Black joy becomes memory, mastery and freedom.

Prayer is less about miracles + more about recognising our shared vulnerability + hope.

In naming another’s struggle, we often uncover our own.

To pray for someone is to honour their humanity + in doing so, affirm our own.

That's a great song to include on any soundtrack.

In that moment, a song of worship filled the air.

If I had to offer a song now, it would be one from The Preacher’s Wife. It feels most fitting for this moment of reflection.

I love the Lord
He heard my cry
And pitied every groan
Long as I, I live
And troubles rise
I'll hasten to
His throne

As the season draws its final breath, the faithful in Bradford lift their voices to a hard-earned ascent to Division 1.

And in that chorus of triumph, comes the chant that binds them:

And it's Bradford City,
Bradford City FC,
We're by far the greatest team,
The world has ever seen.

Wi likkle but wi tallawah.

Some truths don’t need to be shouted. If you’ve lived them, you’ll recognise them in life, in photography + in this short essay.
