Becky Burke of Book Island (a picture book publisher in the UK founded by my fellow Tokarczuk translator Greet Pauwelijn) was "detained" by ICE at the Canadian border on 2/28. Her father asked that her story be shared in case someone can help her. He writes:

Darzi review concludes that Britain’s pandemic response was among the worst and the NHS had been ‘seriously weakened’, leading the NHS to reduced its “routine healthcare activity by a far greater percentage than other health systems” in many key areas during the Covid crisis.

It WAS overwhelmed.
This retrospective review is important: Lansley’s 2012 NHS reorganisation was carried out with basically zero public scrutiny/awareness: the media hardly reported it at the time. And now look where we are.

The Trump rally used Foo Fighters song “My Hero” to welcome RFK Jr on stage.

Not only is the band taking legal action, but they’re going to donate any royalties from use of the song to the Harris/Walz campaign.

The company, which employs 20 people, took on 4 more people & said it had incurred a total of £8k in extra charges since the border was introduced.
