Just woke up to find that the dog had shit on the bathroom floor because she didn’t want to go outside in the rain before bedtime last night. Anyway, merry Christmas!

I actually don’t want that MFer to expire while in office. Enough dumb people will then want to keep his name on all the shit he’s put it on, add it to more stuff, put his face on coins, etc. No, I want him to live so he can see how fast we tear his name off all that shit in the next administration.

Last time I made a martini at home, I think I was 19 or 20, and admittedly had no idea what I was doing or what a good drink should taste like. I remember hating it. Now, I just made martini #2, made with 4:1 gin to vermouth, stirred, chilled, served in a chilled glass with citrus peel garnish…

Tonight I managed to burn one of my fingers and stab another one while making dinner. I hope this isn’t the start of some weird “12 Cooking Injuries of Christmas” where every night I hurt myself, each night increasing in both the number and severity of injuries.

Welp, time to add to The List*…

Leo the Truck
Peppa Pig
Dino Dana/dinosaurs
Paw Patrol
Practical Engineering
Pokémon
My Little Pony

And now…

KPop Demon Hunters

*The List of things I wouldn’t have imagined I would have to constantly deal with in my 40s.

An extremely satisfying set of videos is coming in a few years.
I’m currently outside of the Kennedy Center:

Call me an old cynic, but it seems odd that the vote to change the name was yesterday, and at 9 am today, they had all the signage fabricated, mounting hardware ready and equipment at the building to get the new signs up. I work for the government, and it takes a week just to get a new name tag.

These things are the Christmas equivalent of circus peanuts THERE I SAID IT

Thanks to Prop 50, I will be now be in Kevin Kiley’s district when he’s up for reelection next year. Today he voted ‘aye’ on MTG’s bill making it a felony to provide gender affirming care to trans youth. As a former foster parent of a trans youth, it will be such a delight to vote him out of office.

My sore throat has morphed into an all-around feeling of malaise, as I knew it would. Runny nose, the roof of my mouth hurts, and my sinuses feel like there’s a blood pressure cuff inflating in there, pushing on my eyeballs and brain. Thank goddess for coffee.

New parenting achievement: today I found a LEGO at the bottom of my coffee mug as I was finishing the last couple sips.

My Livejournal blog is still out there, apparently… that and my Flickr page still pop up in my email from time to time to remind me of better days on the internet…

I guess this game’s editors have never been to Connecticut.

I’ve been reading comics since I was a kid. Calvin and Hobbes, The Far Side, various iterations of Bloom County, Get Fuzzy, Pearls Before Swine, and a bunch of webcomics. I realized the one I’ve been consistently following week after week for over 25 years, is Bob the Angry Flower. Good stuff.

Thanksgiving was always in my top two holidays of the year, mainly because of the memories of the brief time in my life when I was lucky enough to live close enough to my extended family that getting together wasn’t rare. I really miss them, and hopefully soon I’ll be back in New England for good.

Now I need to know if Binky, the protagonist of Life in Hell, was named after the rabbit jump, or if the jump was named after him…

I’m now all pissed off after having an argument with a stubborn, hard-headed family member about current events. Not only did the argument take place entirely in my imagination, this relative has been dead for over 15 years.

I’ve been laughing at this since yesterday.
[P] Trump is Leonard Zelig.

If he sat down with three drag queens for 45 minutes, the presser afterward would be an all-timer. “Putin loves me, we get along very well; but booger gotta sissy that walk, no tea no shade.”
Trump frickin' loves this guy lmao

It must be crazy to work for an agency where honor and integrity are not required. I was taught that if the court finds you not credible, your career was pretty much over. No prosecutor will ever touch any of your cases, and defense attorneys will eat you alive on the stand.
THREAD: Judge Ellis is the first federal judge to review extensive body cam video of DHS's actions in Chicago. She finds that DHS *repeatedly* misled the public and made claims that were disproven by agents' own videos.

I'll go through some of the most egregious ones here.

After Peter Parker jizzes his web all over the city, who cleans it up? Is it water soluble? Is it considered a biohazard? Doesn’t it start to stink after a while?

Another Gen X parenting moment tonight: trying to explain the cover to the Butthole Surfers’ album Electriclarryland to my son, which he happened to see right before he went to bed.

“Why does he have a pencil in his ear?”

My wife, who’s going in for much needed and long overdue knee surgery tomorrow, and will be laid up in bed for a while afterwards, was not up for watching “Misery” with me tonight.

Every time I scroll through the cable news channels on our channel guide, I notice there’s a Fox Weather channel. I’ve always wondered if they blame droughts on Hunter Biden’s laptop, or say storms targeting NYC are because it’s a blue city, or blame immigrants for tornadoes…
