Glendenning

And now …

Lord Heseltine, "I wouldn't touch Nigel Farage"

"I hear of talk about a pact with Reform UK"

"We can see Reform UK, all over Europe. Le Penn in France. AfD in Germany. Same equivalent in Italy, Spain"

Named after Roger Delgado? I'd hope so.

Delgado means 'thin' in Spanish.

This is so far up my street. Absolutely loved it and I now want to hear everything they've done.

229/365 The Delgados 'Universal Audio'

Not heard much of these but liked what I have.
That will be changing (the not hearing much bit) after this because I really enjoyed it.
Tuneful, some interesting ideas, and her voice is fantastic.
Not overly groundbreaking, but so what?
A definite yes from me.

A world where I agree with Neville and Glendenning. Tricky if you’ve a fixed mind.

Simon Jordan on TalkSport, unchallenged yet again.

As a Talksport employee, I am embarrassed by this rebuttal of what Neville said. This moron pontificates without question. It is bonkers.

And yeah, i'll probably be sacked. Fuck it.

You know that scene in Blazing Saddles where the old woman thanks and supports the sheriff and then quietly says ‘Of course, you'll have the good taste not to mention that I spoke to you?’

Gary Neville on the flags.

Yeah, the same really. Jive Talking is great but it's all a bit Drive Time Radio 2.

228/365 Bee Gees ‘Main Course’

I don’t mind the hits, but never felt the need to hear an album. They're one of those bands whose story I find more interesting than their music.
They're becoming the disco beast that launched a thousand tribute bands here.
Alright, but no real urge to listen again.

You could have played me this on a loop for a week and I'd have never guessed it was them. A mile away from 'That's Not My Name.'

Dave's right. Very Fleetwood Mac. So surprising and just a bit lovely in places.

227/365 The Ting Tings ‘Home’

I didn’t even know these were still going until last week when I saw a mention of this album.
They're now on their 5th album (!) and sound like a completely different band to how I remember them.
Very Buckingham/Nicks era Fleetwood Mac. Liked this a lot.

Confession. Like with The Clash I've never quite got Bob Marley. I've always thought that it might be because I'm trespassing on a struggle which isn't mine or a reggae thing but it can't be that as I love The Harder They Come soundtrack and Trojan stuff. Maybe it's just the chart Marley.

226/365 Bob Marley & The Wailers ‘Exodus’

Doesn’t feel like a first listen because a lot of the songs are so familiar.
Another of those artists that it’s difficult to say you don’t like without appearing wilfully contrary. Is it even possible to dislike ‘Three Little Birds’?
Loved it, obviously.

My mate can't abide them. Quite funny in a way.

Yeah, I knew most of this. Nice songs though I sort of see where my mate is coming from.

225/365 The Divine Comedy ‘A Short Album About Love’

Saw them in a field about 20yrs ago and, only knowing the hits, was hugely disappointed that they took the “and here’s another new one” approach to festival setlisting.
Enjoyed this a lot. Great songwriting, great playing. A beautiful album.

Not really for me.

224/365 Deftones 'Private Music'

Another one that only came out yesterday, and another one that I really liked.
They've always been a lot more interesting musically than the 'nu metal' crowd they were lumped in with initially, and this one follows the same path with some nice leftfield touches.

The idea that money acts as a barrier to grief.
thecenci.bsky.social
Might be a neurodivergent thing but it makes me uneasy. We’re all experiencing the same life but that just seems so alien. It drives my anxiety and alienates me. Why and how are people like that? Just crass.

And you never get that with any other passions? Books never offend. Nor music.

Saddened by some of the comments on my article yesterday about the effect of Diogo and Andre’s deaths.

‘Victims’
‘What? With their money.’
‘Excuses.’
‘What about when they were winning?’

Not all from rival fans. It’s tricky to be part of something collegiate when people are pricks. An army of one.
