Mets, Nets, Devils. Recovering wrestling fan. Never played for the Los Angeles Clippers. he/him
Went to bed feeling great after the walk off and then woke up at 5 am with severe abdominal pain. One of the weirdest swings I can remember.

There’s a lot of understandable frustration right now where the team disappointed greatly and then three fan favorites have left. I think if they don’t trade for a starter or sign Tucker or Bellinger, that would be a nightmare. I’m choosing to believe (perhaps wrongly!) that’s coming.

Stearns was the guy who signed Soto to the richest contract in the history of professional sports. The Wilpons wouldn’t have been involved with that at all.

Fans want a good team. We’ve tried being good with Pete and it didn’t work. He got his money and now we’re going to try something new. Hopefully it works out well for both sides.

And Nino’s Rangers the following week

Well now hold on a minute that’s not something anyone wants lol

I’m perfectly fine with not running it back with this core. They’ve had 5 seasons and exactly one of them wasn’t a massive disappointment. What are we holding onto? Let these guys go thrive elsewhere and change it up. I just don’t want another collapse.

I also think part of my reaction is, I processed through Pete leaving last year. I expected this a year ago, but when he had no market, he came back on what was essentially a “reset the market” deal. When I heard other teams were actually talking to him this year, I knew it was only a matter of time

I am happy for you. I hope he hits 40 homers a year for you guys. He’s a national treasure.

It’s definitely a give and take. I want a connection with the players, but at some point, I have to admit it’s just not working out. Luckily there’s a young core coming through the minors we can get attached to while they add some mercenaries through trade and FA.

I loved Wright, Reyes, and Beltrán (i love Reyes significantly less these days). I’d have been extremely sad if they had let any of them leave. But they probably should have traded one or more of them after 2008 at the latest. Those teams kept getting progressively worse.

If the Mets replace Pete with nobody, it’s a bad offseason. That hasn’t happened yet. I’m letting it play out.

Because they signed Juan Soto and then won 2 fewer games and missed the playoffs. We aren’t exactly talking about breaking up a championship core here. It was a massive disappointment and they should change things up.

If you’ve been paying attention to the market, I don’t think this should be surprising. Last year Alonso had no market because he had a disappointing season and because he had a QO. This year, with no QO and coming off of a better season, he had options. It was time for both sides to move on

It’s fine. It’s time for them to move on from each other
