It reminds me of all the people who only recently started believing in climate change because of insurance companies dropping home owners who live in areas at high risk of being in the ocean very soon because of rising sea levels.

My favorite anecdote was about someone who stopped being a flat earther after their friend pointed out that of the earth were flat, traveling to the edge of the world would be a tourist industry.

When I went to the Flat Earth conference in Edmonton in 2018, one of the speakers confessed at some point that even if someone flew him to Antarctica for free, he would not believe it, he would not believe his own eyes.
