A great podcast episode in which @ultradamo.bsky.social talks all things Three Solo Challenge in which he attempted to complete the big three rounds solo using public transport to get between the rounds.

An epic demonstration of #GreenRunning 💪🏻💚

1/2 The BBC Green Sport Awards celebrate athletes who are putting the climate front and centre.

We were there, representing the running scene.

This year, Green Sport Athlete of the Year Hector Pardoe used his challenge to protest water quality (How We Speak Out).

“Every time they put a microphone next to you, there’s always a chance to talk about issues, to just generate conversation […] I can raise my voice”

Great to hear this from Hector Bellerin, one of the recipients of the BBC Green Sport Awards 2025 announced yesterday.

I bought a light weight windproof layer so that I only use my waterproof jacket when really needed.

Reproofing with Granger products works for a while.

I should adopt these @inov8.bsky.social care instructions more often.

I've got a relatively light Paramo that I've used for about 15 years. I've sent it back for repair 3 times - they offer a great service (as do Alpkit who repair any brand). Paramo has under arm zips which are great for temp control. Paramo jackets can be reproofed at home.

I have a good waterproof that I save for race’s and reproof older kit for shorter training runs, where a less breathable or less reliable top isn’t going to result in hypothermia. It’s not like a lightweight multi day kit check waterproof is cheap.

Much of my kit is well worn & old.

Extending the life of waterproofs can be challenging and agree that it’s not something to compromise on when out on the hills.

Any top tips when it comes to running waterproofs?

Collecting tips for a post.

Don't wear it unless really necessary, and avoid wearing it in terrain where it might rip. And this isn't a practical tip but many runners I train with get new kit purely for fashion reasons, so as a counter I always proudly tell people how long I keep my kit going for. Old kit as a badge of honour.

Love this.

Echo the comment about being proud of the kit you own and the adventures it has taken you on.

Will collect up the tips and share in a post.

Don't wear it unless you need to. A windproof will often suffice.
If you do wear it try to avoid wearing a backpack / race vest over the top - this reduces the wear and loss of waterproofing on the shoulders.

Kit conundrum. 🤔

In the UK it’s the time of year when we may need to pack a waterproof running jacket when heading out on a long run. 💦

We want our kit to have a long life but waterproof jackets are often not built to last.

What are your tips for getting the most from your jacket?

A sobering set of images that highlight the impact of climate change.

This is why we encourage people to take action aligned to our #HowWeFuel pillar.

Love the idea of a planetary health diet.

Don’t make it a fad. Make it an action that lasts.

New oil will only worsen extreme weather, and delay the action we urgently need.

Yet the UK government is still considering Rosebank, the country’s largest undeveloped oil field. Add your voice to stop it: www.stopcambo.org.uk/act
