British Transport Police's decision to not investigate bike thefts outside train stations where bikes have been left for more than two hours is really concerning. It could effectively decriminalise it.

Together with Lib Dem colleagues I've written to the BTP to get clarity.

Sometimes in life I get that feeling of imposter syndrome, but earlier today I heard BBC chief political editor Chris Mason on the radio, and now I don't feel so bad about my skills relative to my job.

Today is a day when arts degrees are worthless, but the product of those degrees is so valuable it would kill an entire industry if they were made to pay for it.

Went to see the "New Dawn Fades" play about Joy Division at the Albany Theatre in Coventry last night. Spookily accurate portrayals of Ian Curtis and Tony Wilson by Josh Lonsdale and Brian Gorman.

Don't forget that 41 Tory MPs in the last government took Russian donations. That might account for media reticence to report on the Nathan Gill case.

My brother-in-law moaned about the family who own our local shop not speaking English when talking to each other, saying they should integrate more. Yet he goes out of his way to avoid talking to his English neighbours. And what does it matter what language people use when they're not talking to him

Just to be clear, an English degree - learning to critically assess texts - is actually one of the most dangerous for people such as Badenoch.

An educated population, able to bring hundreds of years of context to statements in a dawning age of AI slop and attention-seeking dishonesty is also vital.

So, the plan is to cut English, the arts, and sociology - the degrees that actually study culture - while on another part of your platform claiming to “defend” British culture.

It’s performance nationalism with a reading age of seven.
Badenoch: Curb students taking 'rip-off' degrees such as English
The performing arts, sociology and anthropology are among the subjects the Conservatives would like to cut

There is absolutely a path to 100% renewable energy – the technology already exists, and is getting better (and cheaper!) every year

What's missing is the political will from governments and the EU to fully plan an end to fossil fuels, insulate and cut energy waste, and go full-tilt for renewables
Global renewable energy generation surpasses coal for first time
Record solar expansion and steady wind growth driving world’s shift away from fossil fuels in 2025, report finds

Calling English a 'rip-off degree' is one of the most blatant exhibitions of personal barbarism I've ever seen. You've demonstrated nothing but the poverty of your own mind.

My Dad was the booking agent for this gig. He always said how much he liked Les Harvey, he was very upset when he died.

Badenoch wants to close “rip off’ degrees such as English. One minute they are wrapping themselves in the Union Jack, the next minute they are wanting to stop the study of our language and literature. Ignorant philistines

Jenrick looks like a man who’s watched JD Vance effortlessly climbing the greasy pole, despite an almost total lack of charm or personality & thought “I, too, could be that wildly over-promoted mediocre white guy who gets to sneer at successful black folks for getting above themselves.”

So if you are a racist and you like your fellow racists to be bent, grifting incompetents then Jenrick is your man.

Chris Philp: "Now, what I've got to tell you now will shock you. There is a so-called Anti Racism Commitment Plan that literally says: policing should not be colour-blind."

Only, it literally does not. It just explains the difference between equality and equity. ~AA
Anti-racism and racial equity
Our commitment to anti-racism means

Taking a stand against racism in all its forms
Proactively identifying, understanding and tackling racial inequalities in policing
Reforming policies and practices that lead to people from different ethnic groups being over-policed, under-protected or marginalised
Working with partners to tackle the racial inequalities that exist in wider society and which are reproduced and sometimes exacerbated by policing
Our commitment to racial equity means

Producing equality of policing outcomes for people from different ethnic groups by responding to individuals and communities according to their specific needs, circumstances and experiences, with understanding that these will be racialised and with the aim of reducing harm.
It does not mean treating everyone ‘the same’ or being ‘colour blind’ (racial equality).
