Minneapolis resident, full of anxiety, kinda stupid but funny sometimes
I truly despise those shots in a movie that are clearly shot specifically for 3D/IMAX that just... Don't translate when you're watching stuff at home.

It's the Wilhelm scream of visual effects.

This has the exact same energy as a geriatric uncle pulling out epic Facebook memes he printed out to show people at Thanksgiving.
Everything about this might be the saddest thing I’ve ever seen

Another reminder that Minnesota politics are fucking weird. Some procedural issues at a city convention had the state DFL sprinting to see how fast they could strip the winner of the endorsement, but a (potential) drunken hit and run? Nah, she gets to keep her post for months afterwards.
the DFL constitution, bylaws and rules committee (CBRC) is meeting now. cyndy martin has a motion to remove dan thomas commins as secretary

cyndy martin is the DFL officer facing criminal charges for killing a teenager with her car

What I've learned is that most of our elected officials who do drink beer are basic bitches.
We asked our mayors, City Council, Park Board, and, yes, the Minneapolis Board of Estimation and Taxation about their fav beers:
Doin’ Beers: Municipally Endorsed Beers to Drink in November - Racket
Doin’ Hard-hitting Journalism Beers.

Choking when you could easily get a win

Look at those Madore and Millard numbers.

Loooooolllllll
Becka Thompson wins the Great Value Award for the council candidate with fewest dollars spent per vote received - $4.21. She still lost big to Aurin Chowdhury ($6.47).

Shelley Madore ($62.31) outdid Lydia Millard ($42.59) for biggest spender per vote. Both of them lost big.

So like, the fuckery in the city election basically accomplished nothing except annoying people right?

Like, post-election, it's pretty clear that Frey would have won even if Fateh had gotten the endorsement. Madore would have lost Ward 2 horribly even with that endorsement.

Yaaaay 4 more years of toxic respectability politics while ICE agents are running around grabbing people off the street.

It was inevitable but still, damn.

There’s no reason ever again for any Democrat to suggest moderating on trans rights. There was never a moral reason but now there’s no political reason either.

Somebody tell Gavin Newsom and Pete Buttigieg. it’s joe-ver.

I'm full of copium on the "All the Frey supporters ranked him at 1 and his max is 45%" train until these fucking results come in and dropkick me in the face.
November 5, 2025 at 4:55 PM
Why does the Secretary of State not simply have the election results ready at 9:01am?

The wait is killing me.
November 5, 2025 at 4:20 PM
Echoing this. Jesus Christ, please don't let your takeaway be "my candidate didn't win, so it's obviously the fault of the /objectively better voting method/"
You guys who wanna kill RCV tonight, just know that you ride with Carol Becker and all the Kypchellacrats.
November 5, 2025 at 5:04 AM
My heart wants to say most Hampton and Davis voters didn't rank Frey, but my brain is pointing out that they would need to have done that at nearly impossible percentages for Fateh to win.
November 5, 2025 at 4:10 AM
Ugh.

The last thing Minneapolis needs is for the vindictive, combative child of a mayor as a lame duck with a strong mayor initiative and a council that's gonna rubber stamp everything his corporate sponsors tell him to do.
Frey candidates winning both 5 (we'll see) and 7 could deliver a Frey-aligned council president/majority.

2, 8, and 10 are places you expect progressives to win.
November 5, 2025 at 3:54 AM
Katie Cashman really seems to be the only casualty of the "DSA GONNA REPLACE THE DEMOCRATS WITH SECRET CLONES" scaremongering, which seems especially unfair to her. She was probably the closest thing the council had to a true moderate.

HA!

I'm gonna take special joy that Baskins prostrated himself to landlord interests two elections in a row to end up with less votes than whoever the hell Max Theroux is.

Also fuck you Shelley and fuck you Michael. Begone, never appear in this ward again.

My poor phone cannot handle my constant pulling up MPR's election website, refreshing, switching to Reddit, repeat.

Hopefully, this means we can finally put the myth that Dems have to throw trans people under the bus to win to bed.

Stfu about it. Stop playing their game. Point out that Republicans actually suck ass at economic policy. People care more about their wallets than three trans athletes in your state.

The only thing sweeter than a Mamdani victory is going to be watching the handwringing worms like Jeffries and Schumer that refused to back him have to eat shit and congratulate him.
November 5, 2025 at 2:36 AM
"CNN Election Cast coming up soon with names like Ben Shapiro-" guess I'm watching MSNBC tonight
November 5, 2025 at 12:50 AM
Minneapolis Ward 2, I beg you, please do not rank either Madore or Baskins. They don't live here, they don't care about the ward, and they will have no problem selling you out to landlords.

Vote for the only candidate who actually lives in Ward 2, Wonsley.
November 4, 2025 at 5:28 PM
Don't fucking rank Frey
November 4, 2025 at 5:25 PM
RIP to the poor All of Minneapolis mook who called me and tried to tell me the DSA was trying to take over the DFL.

Shame on him for hanging up when I started shouting though. If you're gonna lie at least sit through your scolding.
