I am an opinion columnist who's never reported an investigative story or set foot in the CBS newsroom. Here's why I think 60 Minutes reporters are overreacting to Bari Weiss killing their story. 1/37....

It’s remarkable how shamelessly Bari Weiss is turning CBS News into state media.

My three-year-old was reading the Atlantic when he turned to me gravely and asked “daddy, why are the 60 Minutes reporters mad at the nice lady with the funny glasses?” And when I told him “because they’re jealous that she’s richer and more successful than they are,” he started crying.

A few months ago Pam Bondi was saying there was nothing to release
The FBI was supposed to deliver all the Epstein files to @AGPamBondi's desk by 8 AM on Feb. 28, 2025. That's almost ten months ago. This seems like something @JusticeOIG would need to dig into www.justice.gov/ag/media/139...

Deeper and Deeper

No one’s going to mistake the shrill soprano of Bari Weiss for the buttery bass of Barry White, but she’s turned CBS News into Trump’s love Unlimited Orchestra. I don’t think David Ellison’s ever ever gonna give her up.

In a profile of Stephen Miller with @swin24.bsky.social, we reported he’s privately laughed off immigrant families’ “sob stories.”

Speaking last night on Fox about the spiked CECOT story, Miller laughed about how ‘60 Minutes’ is “trying to tell sob stories."

So I have the cover story in next month's TNR.

I interviewed the heads of police groups; immigration defense attorneys, ex-judges and ex-prosecutors; former DOJ and DHS officials, and the former head of Border Patrol.

They're all horrified at what we've seen, and they all fear what's coming.

You Better Wise Up, Bari Weiss

CBS News has become a horror show, caught in a time warp back to Soviet-style state propaganda. They’ve even lost Susan Sarandon.

Horseshoe theory…
So the younger shooter, in a video submitted to the court, claims the shooting was aimed at the Zionist policies of Israel as a state. This is distinct from being an attack against Jewish people as a group. Once again the pro-Zionist coalition and right wing media jumped the gun and got it wrong.

In the grand tradition of American journalism, both sides must always be expressed. On the one side, there might be the moral courage of CECOT survivors who told us their story. On the other side, there might might be my service to oligarchical fascism in killing their story.
