pointlessly reductive to say there is 'one missing piece'. there are multiple factors at work here. summer disruption, two starting fullbacks and starting striker long term injured. All our wingers being bang out of form and maybe some staleness in how the squad views Howe's methods after 4 years.

I agree. I think the American democratic socialists vision is more like a Nordic model of high tax/generous welfare capitalism than any sort of true socialism but within an American context that's pretty socialist!

there is also more than a possibility that the whole squad is absolutely riddled with covid at the moment so simply can't bring the levels required to play with any sort of intensity

not a good look if we don't get at least a proper performance. luck could go against us and we could still lose but if we don't turn up again it suggests, at least for the moment, the players aren't responding to Howe giving them a public dressing down post West Ham...
