Last month, President Trump issued an Executive Order authorizing sanctions on the ICC and its Chief Prosecutor. The US sanctions pose a dire threat to the ICC, as well as to the broader international rule of law and its multilateral system.

Trump's sanctions on the ICC are a huge blow to human rights. There is no denying that.

But we should remember that there is still a powerful network of people who believe in international justice. This includes political leaders who can challenge these sanctions.

Update: Pannir's execution delayed at the eleventh hour to allow for an appeal.

This is good news, but it is still humane to bring Pannir and his family to the brink, time and time again.

The Malaysian government must step in and arrange an extradition.
A few months ago, Amnesty heard from Pannir's sister Angelia.
She talked about her childhood memories with her brother and the impact his sentencing has on her and her family.

Imam Hendricks fought tirelessly for the rights of the LGBTI people, despite reportedly receiving regular death threats. His legacy will live on.

There must be a prompt, effective and thorough investigation into his murder.

When employers allow their staff to unionize, human rights in the workplace improve. It's that simple

The right to join a union is not only a manifestation of our freedom of association. It is also a key mechanism that allows workers to enjoy all other rights too.

In the lead up to an upcoming @amnesty.org launch on garment workers in South Asia, we're publishing a series of blog posts that explain some of the issues in the report.

To kick things off, we're talking about living wages, how they're calculated and why they are different than the minimum wage.
What is a living wage and why is it a human rights issue?
Human rights and labour rights campaigners are calling for workers to be paid a living wage to bring people out of poverty and ensure decent work.
