You think car running costs are bad? Look at this from 1919. Annual cost to run and maintain a 16 hp vehicle was £112, which is equivalent to £7,400 or $10,000. That was for c9000 miles travelled with fuel cost at just over 1 shilling/gallon. Almost half the total cost was for replacing tyres.

The olive tree symbolic of the City of Vigo. The original was planted hundreds of years ago, but destroyed in the 19th century. A branch was saved and replanted in 1932 to symbolise the firm promise of the love, loyalty and sacrifice for the City, from the people.
