I've been thinking about this particular scene most of the day due to how different it feels from a lot of scenes in movies today and the reasoning for that because I don't think it's one solitary reason and a culmination of a bunch of smaller choices.

What struck me the most was the lighting. It's a scene with no natural light, all shutter closed, the only light a bit of decoration on the walls. Yet each character is lit from above, as if it were moonlight, to let us see them in full detail using the light as a tool to sculpt the mood.
