So I just decided screw it and posted the last 2 chapters to These Fated Threads: Volume 1 over on Honeyfeed. It's a queer romance isekai about combating colonialism, overcoming trauma, and creating a place for yourself in a world seemingly made for everyone else:

Sometimes I see photos like this and think 2 thoughts back to back.
1. This picture is gonna be in a history book some day.
2. People of the future are gonna be baffled by the stupidity of our period in history.

The only correct take on a fundamentally anti-human technology.
Screenshot of David Simon interview
SHAPIRO: OK, so you've spent your career creating television without Al, and I could imagine today you thinking, boy, I wish I had had that tool to solve those thorny problems...
SIMON: What?
SHAPIRO: ...Or saying...
SIMON: You imagine that?
SHAPIRO: ...Boy, if that had existed, it would have screwed me over.
SIMON: I don't think Al can remotely challenge what writers do at a fundamentally creative level.
SHAPIRO: But if you're trying to transition from scene five to scene six, and you're stuck with that transition, you could imagine plugging that portion of the script into an Al and say, give me 10 ideas for how to transition this.
SIMON: I'd rather put a gun in my mouth.

Damn. This is amazing. £325 per week, paid monthly, for 3 years - and the result was a profit for the Irish economy:
www.citizensinformation.ie/en/employmen...
Post from Threads user rodneyowl: "Ireland has declared the Basic Income for Artists scheme permanent. This will be officially announced in tomorrow’s budget. Details to follow. Congratulations to all who fought for it and the present and future artists of all sorts in Ireland. That includes me 👌We’re just comin to the end of a 3 year pilot scheme. It’s been a roaring success. For every €1 paid out to the 2000 participants, the government got €1.46 back. Can’t argue with that. Other countries are already taking note."

I see pieces like this a lot, often w/ a spin of lamenting cultural degeneration, but reading is a LABOR issue, it’s declined because so many people are working overtime or two jobs & employers expect after hours work. France has Earth’s highest reading rate b/c long lunch breaks & labor protections

Daaaaaaaaamn that is a wild deck, how crazy did it get??

Y'know, sometimes I am still struck dumb by the fact my mother refused my request for family therapy and has seemingly accepted she will never again have a relationship with her daughter.

Legit I am struggling with this now as I have an idea I think would KILL in comics but would probably be taken more seriously if I did it as a book.

Wish more people accepted comics as actual pieces of art and literature.

Comics/graphic novels aren’t recognized or taken seriously as literature in the publishing industry, despite taking twice as much work to create as prose novels, and it just breaks my heart.

That’s it, that’s the take.

Please read more comics.

Anyone have a particularly hot comic take?

Sigh
Sit down, you're not going to leave bluesky, you aren't going to abandon the only replacement for twitter you have and you all know mastodon is worse.
I've been here for years, at this point. Can we actually do something that works instead of spamming the reviews and then leaving lol

I painted this warrior woman with my non-dominant hand when I had to turn down a fun art job shortly after arm surgery; I needed to prove that I could still paint, albeit way, way slower at that time, and I'm still so proud of her!
A woman in late middle age, sitting in anglosaxon / medieval clothing and partial armor, with a golden helmet at her feet, at the base of a big tree. She is a heavier built white woman with dark greying hair in a long braid with red ribbon.
