Hey! 👋🏽 Finally migrating over from our former beloved Twitterverse. Intend to follow as many of those I followed while there who've also made the leap.
Who's with me #blacksky?
Dearest @kendricklamar.bsky.social, could, would you, please be so kind as to post the 2024 recap of Not Like US (from whichever streaming platform you so choose)? I would ❤️ to see stats of that historic, culture-shifting masterpiece. Thanking you in advance, benevolent 🤴🏿.

Happy holidays - Starbucks baristas are ON STRIKE!!

We're going on five days of escalating ULP strikes in response to the company backtracking on our promised path forward, starting today in Los Angeles, Chicago, and Seattle - and many more to come!

The ripple of guilty parties and co-conspirators associated with Golubski has got to be deep and wide. There's no possible way he could've committed those crimes for that long and no one know about it AND not be complicit. INVESTIGATE THE ENTIRE DEPARTMENT AND WHOLE CITY!
While this may seem like an end... There are still too many unanswered questions, including:

What about the KCK officers who used "Golubski's Girls" to imprison Black men like Lamonte McIntyre and WATCHED Golubski sexually assault a woman AT THE POLICE STATION

Pure evil.
For five years, I have been covering what is unquestionably the biggest criminal justice scandal in American history.

Today it ended when the most corrupt cop in history took his life.

But it's not over.

A thread.

The feeling of deep overwhelm and sadness for how much of our (and our ancestors') lives are spent trying to fight against and dismantle institutional bias, racism, and systems put in place that methodically work against us in almost every element of our lives.
TO ALL MY BLACK FOLK…

What’s the toughest part about being a Black Woman/Man?

SAME. My _soul_ was relaxed.
I didn’t realize how stressful being constantly on safety alert as a minority here was until visiting a country where everyone was Black.

I’d not been relaxed like that ever.

To all the Republicans talking about cutting government spending- gun violence costs this country $557 BILLION per year…

In other words, that’s 2.6% of our entire GDP!!

I assume you’ll be taking action on this?

This is INSANE! Am I to believe that of all the possible options for an insurance company to manage costs _this_ was a reasonable option? Jeezus help us all.
anesthesia is one of the most expensive portions of surgical care, this is so fucking evil to force patients to take on those costs out of pocket
Blue Cross Blue Shield in Connecticut, New York and Missouri has declared it will no longer pay for anesthesia for the full length of some surgeries.

It the procedure goes over a certain time, anesthesia will not be covered for the duration.

Under Trump, EPA scientists say managers encouraged them to delete evidence of chemicals’ harms, including cancer, miscarriage and neurological problems, from their reports. And in some cases, they said, their managers deleted the information themselves.

EPA Scientists Said They Were Pressured to Downplay Harms From Chemicals. A Watchdog Found They Were Retaliated Against.
Three reports issued by the agency’s inspector general detailed personal attacks suffered by the scientists — including being called “stupid,” “piranhas” and “pot-stirrers” — and called on the EPA to…

I don't think we need to have any more discussions about "norms" and "precedent." What we need to do is prepare to sue the shit out of this administration in a zillion places in an attempt to sabotage it until we can flip Congress in 2026.

The blocked article I quoted was the one about an alleged married mom 'carrying on' with a chatbot AI "boyfriend" who was clowned by her 16 yo son for doing so. It was purportedly posted by Business Insider.
This article is an example of nouveau clickbait—create some wild, mildly plausible scenario, use GAI for the pics, say something just outrageous enough to get folks talking and BAM! Instant engagement. They mastered this on the bird app and natch they've continued it here. Ugh...

For a year or two, illegal border crossings are down, crime is down, inflation is down, and the economy is strong. But public perception thought otherwise.

We’re already seeing that flip, since people who were lying that it was much worse than it was will now lie about when and why it improved.
Here's Trump directly claiming Mexico will begin stopping migrants "immediately," even though it's already been happening. Indeed, it's partly responsible for the drop in crossings.

As I argue in that piece, you can read entire articles about Trump/Mexico mess that don't tell you this basic fact.

Make no mistake, the acceptance rates below for Black students are mostly made up of athletes. We're always seen as good enough to contribute to the school's bottom line. They're never offended by DEI if it directly increases their profit margins. (See also: the NFL, NBA & MLB.)
Yale

Black: Remained steady at 14%

Princeton
