Awful news from Wales, the St Fagan's Museum has been broken into and prehistoric goldwork has been taken. Its painful to think what objects might now be at risk. Thoughts with the museum team who must be devastated, all speed to the police and a curse on the crooks.

Also Sarah, I *think* you'll find there's this sceptre. Or fruit knife. At the MET.

Panella's book on this find is very detailed: C. Panella (ed.), I segni del potere: realtà e immaginario della sovranità nella Roma imperiale
(Bari: Edipuglia, 2011). The standards are fascinating!

#WCCWiki yesterday reminded me that there really needs to be some good new book on the history and women of Bedford College, which feels quite ignored compared to, say, histories of women at Oxbridge. Hope someone can get on that soon...!

I'm looking for researchers on crime/punishment in Britain, particularly Cheshire. I'm in touch with CRO, but access is limited due to the move. I've also spoken with Cheshire Policing Museum (records are mostly at CRO). Any time period, but esp Victorian! There may be a freelance research opp here.

While the Call for Papers for our annual conference may be closed, we are still open to submissions for our Journal!

JAEMA publishes scholarly articles on the Late Antique and Early Medieval world, see our website for details: aema.org.au/journal/
This call for submissions states that the Journal of the Australian Early Medieval Association seeks submissions of scholarly articles on the early medieval period and late antiquity, from anywhere around the globe, between the fall of the Roman Empire and the end of the eleventh century. The Journal of the Australian Early Medieval Association publishes articles that appeal to those interested in our period, whether these are focused on the historical, political, social, literary, cultural, religious, ethnic, geographic, and interpretive crossovers between.
