We cut a hole in the floor upstairs, and positioned the engine hoist over it. Ran a chain through the hole, and used the shackle to lift the end of the beam.

So this is the idea. The shackle is positioned at the top of the beam so that it will tend to stay upright. The Bobcat controls one end, and we control the other end with various blocks, tools, and cleverness.

These holes are to make it easier to get ahold of the I-beam later with winches, cranes, comealongs, etc. It’s quite heavy.

Dad milled a bunch of cribbing, which is going to support this I-beam, which in turn will support the post that’s over the bad part of the foundation.
