And, language models have a useful purpose, even if we don’t like them.

The trend lines might look similar, but I think there are important fundamental differences to the real economy.

The bitcoin facilities become e-waste because they’re specialty ASIC hardware that are useful for guessing scam coin hashes and nothing else. These datacenters are still useful general purpose compute assets, even if we overbuild them.

Programmers get outsourced, creators of business value do not.

I recommend this essay at least a few times per month to people in all kinds of professions, it's not really about software engineering.

When I started learning computers, it was because I thought I wanted to make video games. But once I actually started making video games, I kept gravitating toward netcode, config options, and dev tools.

So instead of grinding it out in video games, I went into devops.

Reflect on your dreams, factor them into your decisions, include them in your life, sure. But have the humility to consider that you have not already imagined every possible fulfilling path for your life.

This is real talk and a lot of people need to hear it. It also reflects the first chapter or two of one of my favorite development books ⬇️ - One of my more conservative (small C) views is that "follow your dreams" is a vapid cliche, and you DO have to be an active participant in your own survival.

Daily limits: developer.1password.com/docs/service... - 1000 per 24 hours across your whole account

It's not the per-service-account limit that's the problem, it's the account-wide limit.

I love it, except keep an eye on your rate limits, they’re extremely low. The op CLI has a way to check them. On the basic plan they’re really low, it’s one of the things they use to drive you toward enterprise.

I didn't say I don't like you either, you're projecting again. I've been online a long time and I appreciate a good troll like a fine wine. I just think you're coming on a little strong. Unskilled. Gotta spend some more time with your mark. Bait them in a little bit. Don't just come out swinging.
