genAI is STOLEN WORK. Using genAI in *any* capacity is trafficking in stolen work, supporting the plunder. Period. These facts aren't even denied by the AI companies, they just find ways to make that plunder seem benevolent. Using their product enables that lie. Stop enabling the theft of our work.
"we only use AI for coming up with ideas" no you don't. you use AI to come up with the a bland version of other people's ideas. there is currently NOBODY more replaceable than you

LRT well I guess I'll have to start figuring out which browser to migrate to from Firefox at some point.
I already turned off some AI features once but if the plan is to integrate AI even more heavily it sounds like that's gonna be more of a problem.

yeah. The thing is

Artists are getting the praise because they achieved something personally. It’s not *just* that some work of art looks cool, but it’s the fact that *YOU did this* and we are sharing the happiness of your accomplishment.
If you want to learn to make art, there are countless people out there willing to help you. The only thing is, you have to be willing to try. The AI pushers want what they perceive is the kudos for having made the art, but they don't want to try.

LRT The number of times I've stopped playing a game because I've realized "Oh I'm just playing this because I want the cosmetics for my character" or something similar is distressingly high.
Worse is games that /are/ fun. Sometimes.
And hell other times. And both times are core aspects of the game.

the best way to get out of an extrinsic game that you find yourself still playing despite disliking is to just force yourself to miss an event in-game. if you're the completionist type it's an extremely fast way to sever yourself from it

I honestly don’t get the value of this company. They hoover up energy and water. Their product constantly gets things wrong and, in extreme cases, coaches people into suicide.

And it’s all built on what seems to be malicious and vast intellectual property theft.

What does OpenAI offer the world?

I got to my polling location pretty late. Like, basically end of the day, late. And ended up being the 90th person through to vote. Which isn't that surprising because it was a relatively "small" ballot (though there were a couple things that could potentially have big impact).

I will sometimes eject myself from a bad dream early, especially well before it hits nightmare status.
But usuallly that's for dreams with like. My physical wellbeing in danger.

Waking up because of an awkward social situation is a new one.

/And/ I only got 4 hours of sleep? Bluh.

This is morbidly funny to me given that the increasing usage of ai in search results and things only increased my going to wikipedia when searching for more Base Knowledge type things.
(As well as choosing to go to wikipedia over, say imdb, because I'm also trying to limit Amazon usage)
wikipedia's data shows that AI is siphoning traffic away from the site, which is a danger to its sustainability. ironically Wikipedia is more important than ever to users who want reliable information instead of slop, and to AI companies that need it for training data www.404media.co/wikipedia-sa...
Wikipedia Says AI Is Causing a Dangerous Decline in Human Visitors
“With fewer visits to Wikipedia, fewer volunteers may grow and enrich the content, and fewer individual donors may support this work.”

So it seems like youtube's testing out a new feature like instagram's where an account can push posts to their subscriber's feeds when they're involved in the video (which is a feature I imagine came from a different site that I'm not even on, as is instagram and youtube's way).
