I just updated CellWalk for the M5 Apple Vision Pro! This app really pushes the GPU (entire cells with billions of atoms) and it's a great way to test the M5.

CellWalk on M5 increases resolution and detail 1.5x over M2! Huge. It's super sharp and detailed. Apple Intelligence is also way faster.

I quietly released new features for Apple Vision Pro in the last update: Widgets and on-device AI explanations powered by Apple Intelligence.

I don't have an M5 yet, has anyone tried CellWalk on the M5 Apple Vision Pro?! How is it? more resolution (it should get more by default)?!

Concept chains: Tap and dive deep into unfamiliar terms and concepts. It's pretty cool.. because now everything in the app is interactive, from the visuals to the text itself.

I finally finished a new optimization for CW's render tech on Apple Vision Pro (profiling on an M2 iPad GPU). Super happy because it took a few weeks to implement.

Far from home, I've been reflecting on the years developing CW. Even though the video starts with 2020, the journey began 12 years ago. It will take many more years to achieve the full vision, but in this moment I'm grateful for where we are.

CellWalk's new ambient occlusion and noise filters. 48 samples/pixel. About ~300-400us for the ao kernel in this scene. Taken on #AppleVisionPro

Still a few more artifacts to fix, but it looks so *good* now, and it's 2-3x faster than before (and 6x more samples)

This week I focused on CellWalk's lighting on #visionOS (CompositorServices + Metal). Before (very noisy) vs after. I'm really happy with this result, but there is still so much to implement and improve.

WIP: sticking my head inside a cell.

I've been focusing on rendering performance and quality. I implemented a really fast first pass spatial denoiser, improved sampling, fixed rate rasterization artifacts, and fixed sphere rasterization artifacts.

I've been exploring this atomistic bacteria cell model in Apple Vision Pro for hours (the points, if you can see them, are individual atoms).

I just finished implementing rasterization rate maps in all parts of CellWalk's renderer (Metal + CompositorServices)
