Slowly being driven mad by people who've entered wildly inaccurate information into my calorie tracking app. Maybe if you think a serving of soy sauce is 300 calories you should leave the data entry to someone else.

Jogged a mile and a half at a decent pace with no walking this morning, wanted a dry run before starting up a cardio program next week. Pretty pleased, I expected to be much rustier. #fitnesssky

When I've strength trained before I've always just done heavy 5x5 big lifts, but the program I'm doing now has lots of 3x12 or 4x10 hypertrophy sets and it's so hard! Gonna take some getting used to. #fitnesssky

Really enjoying BallxPit so far. Simple but satisfying game loop, super chill, love figuring out all the combinations and synergies. The village bit is amusing if a little silly, very satisfying to get a harvest with tons of dings. 🎮

First book of the year done, Clean Sweep by Ilona Andrews, which I'd nearly finished before New Years. Charming but pretty mid for me, it feels like the kind of series where the first one is iffy but it gets better once established so I might pick up the second sometime. #bookssky

At the gym this morning, makes 19 of the 22 days they've been open so far. I've really been happy to be so active during my time off, really eager to keep the momentum up as we get into the new year. #fitnesssky

I wish you, and me, and all of us, strength & solidarity & joy in the new year as we find our way together: which we have done this year already, and will arise tomorrow to do again. /thread

Astounded to learn that Bennett Foddy, who I thought I only knew from the silly Getting Over It game, is also the maker of QWOP, VVVVVV, and Universal Paperclips!

I probably can't remember all the games I played this year, I definitely beat more games and played more new games this year than any recent year I can think of. Feels like it's been a banger year regardless what kind of games you like. I also replayed a few games this year which is always nice. 🎮

On a similar note, I'll recommend A Canticle for Leibowitz to anyone who will listen. #booksky
High on my list of favorites this year is Between Two Fires, the medieval horror from Christopher Buehlman. All I could think was it's like playing the Witcher but in Dark Souls and I thought it was great top to bottom. I'm not a Catholic but stories in Catholic trappings tend to be so cool.

Looking through the 34 books I read (31) or listened to (3) this year, not too shabby since I had only hoped to do one every two weeks if I was busy. 31 fiction with a decent mix of genres, 3 nonfiction mostly professional development stuff.

The commercial density on the gym treadmill TVs would make a normal cable network hyperventilate.

I said hello to Bobcat Goldthwait at a central Illinois Steak 'n Shake after seeing his standup set at a local comedy club.
Right folks. Feeling rather down at the moment so bringing back an oldie

If you're not getting a proper knead-me-like-dough massage once in awhile you aren't living right. My back feels great 🫠

I've made a point of adding cardio at the end of every workout the last couple weeks and it's just good.
+1 to this. i have taken to trying to do a 30 minute jog on the treadmill most days and it has done wonders for my health and general state of mind.
not gonna evangelize about it but tbh coming to understand the value of cardio is one of the biggest positive changes I've made of any kind to my adult life, for whatever that's worth

Somehow I've watched a 100 years of #DesertBus before I got around to listening to 100 Gecs. Good stuff.

I think I'm gonna make it to 35 books read this year, unlikely maybe 36 if I spend some extra time with this audiobook of A Gentleman in Moscow. Pretty good reading year, especially considering all the untracked technical material I've read.

Got Death Grips back in the gym playlist and somehow I can just lift more.

Finally got to @jeffvandermeer.bsky.social 's Absolution -- loved the original trilogy, loved the new one too. The only problem is I have mismatched cover styles 😩

Somehow I forget how dead boring it is driving through Midwest farmland every time I go visit family.

Adult children do the same for gadgets you bought your non-technical parents.
Parents, remember to update the systems you bought for your family now to save annoyance on Christmas day
