Hakuoho 2 kinboshi
Oshoumi 10+ Kanto sho
November 9, 2025 at 11:30 AM
When I first saw Churanoumi vs Onokatsu I was watching through fast and thought It was the Yoshinofuji vs Oshoma match. Apparently their body shapes were just similar enough to fool me. In my defense when their match did come up it turned out exactly the same as their dopplegangers.

Word is that Onosato is looking super powered in the lead up. Do you think he can win it again cos he’d be the first Japanese rikishi to win 4 yushos in a year since Takanohana.

Himukamara, formerly Nagamura, is debuting in Juryo this basho. If he makes it to Makuuchi in his career it will mean that every single rikishi who has ever beaten Aonishiki has at some point been a Maegashira in their career. He beat Aonishiki on 22nd March 2024 and was Ao’s first ever pro loss.

It makes you wonder what rank Takakeisho could achieve at this sort of weight if his neck wasn’t ruined. He was so much more than just a power tachiai, his oshi hand skills were crazy, footwork perfection, and if he had less weight on he could be faster and more balanced, but of course less powerful
Civilian Takakeishō. I like it. The haircut makes him look less thin. It suits him.

It’s another super tough Banzuke to predict
September 28, 2025 at 9:44 AM
I asked my daughter if she thought Onosato would get a giant macaroon as well as a trophy, she laughed and said “don’t be silly dad”.

Well I sure showed her.
September 28, 2025 at 9:13 AM
Some chatter that the playoff could have been a torinaoshi rematch, I disagree. Onosato had completed the throw and Hoshoryu was well beyond the dohyo when Onosato’s hand went down. Definitive win. Bravo Onosato.

So Hoshoryu surprises Onosato with the super fast oshi attack, which begs the question why not use it all the time?

Move of the Day: Sadanoumi

September 27, 2025 at 9:02 AM
Onosato doesn’t have to wrestle today so Hoshoryu decides he doesn’t have to either. Henka hands Wakatakakage his makekoshi. Disaster for the man pushing for Ozeki last week.
September 27, 2025 at 8:57 AM
Win for Oho here makes him a realistic chance to return to Sanyaku, maybe even back to Sekiwake
September 27, 2025 at 8:14 AM
Trying to work out who would be better at sumo out of Josh Dunkley and Cam Rayner. Dunkley definitely the belt guy and Cam the pusher thruster. Go Lions! Premiers 2025. Now over to the sumo.
September 27, 2025 at 7:49 AM
Onosato steamrolling towards a yusho. In the outright lead and looks super powerful. Hoshoryu’s fate is still in his own hands. Win tomorrow and he’ll have the chance to win or force a playoff day 15. The basho is far from over.
September 26, 2025 at 9:10 AM
Kotozakura is sadly not quite close enough to challenge for the yusho but he can certainly cause some chaos. Can’t wait to see him vs Onosato tomorrow. Been a real return to form for him this basho despite a few losses.
