Quietly hiding in the forest. Lover of moss, lichen, fungi and trees. Story teller from ancient times.

Probably one of my favourite Cymraeg words to say is the Cymraeg for ‘Moss’ - ‘Mwsog’ 💚

Say it like ‘Moo’ as in 🐄 and ‘sog’ as in soggy. Very satisfying to say. More satisfying still if you say it whilst softly stroking a fantastic pillow of Mwsog 💚💚💚

Please consider boosting Li's call for support and send her as many good vibes as you can. Words can't describe what she must be going through right now after over a decade of being stealth...

Below is a Twitter screenshot of Li's latest post in English.

Distinct lack of trees here in Shetland means we're a bit short of autumn colour. If only the sun would come out, the Bog Asphodel would do its best...

Ramalina fraxinea (Cartilage lichen in English and Isorustojäkälä in Finnish) is common in south Finland (also in my neighbourhood forests in Mustikkamaa), but becomes pretty rare further north you go. It is sensitive to airpollution.

This one had striking apothecia (fruiting bodies).

A very quick #SundayFishSketch for today.
Red Velvet Whalefish from a EVNautilus video (link in 🧵 ).

A lot of people joined here last week ... If you are from my fish community from the other app - I'm not ignoring you! It's just hard to keep the overview 🥺💙.

Found a South American Common Toad during a night hike in the rainforest. Got dorsal shots to help with an ID and noticed amazing light absorbing spots on its back. Walked around front and the toad had smooshed down flat. OK buddy, you're a leaf. I don't see you.
