Hi I'm Ligus,

I'm a traditional artist from Berlin.
#SundayFishSketch made me start painting again and I fell in love with fish and marine biology.
I'm also trying to boost other #sciart .
Sometimes there will be some dog and crow posts ;)
Oil painting before I stopped painting again. Giant "floating" shark behind people who are just walking or cycling. All those people are from science history (besides the silver ants lol) Red necked grebe commission They are sitting on their nest. On their back is one chick, the other is hiding behind them. watercolour Black Tetra watercolour, sideview One of my first commissions be a friend 3 framed paintings and one paintings in process. A scallop, an eel, a dino and a sea horse in process. Mostly watercolour.

What might be my favourite fossil has been just published by Kiat et al. 2025. Years ago I saw a pic of this Anchiornis specimen in nat geo article and I audibly gasped.preserving not only the feathers but also the original patterns as well. I made this drawing on the spot. Maybe its time to do v2.0

Folks, I finished it.
The finished drawing of a very, very shiny praying mantis. The mantis has bright blue and green head, thorax and legs with a green, orange and red abdomen. Its raptors forearms are particularly large, and fringed with sharp spikes. A close-up of the drawing focusing on one of the mantises arms. This shows the bright blue highlights of a mostly green arm, with fine hairs along the outside.

Both species have restricted distribution in northeast India. It took us a few years to verify their identity, they are morphologically cryptic but are deeply divergent mitochondrial lineages.

I finally finished my Opah for today's #SundayFishSketch 🐡
An illustration of an Opah (a type of fish). This fish is disc-shaped, with a very deep, silvery body. There are white spots covering the body, and the eye is large. The mouth, and all fins are a bright red-orange.
