Patreon has a feature where you can display how much you make per month on it. This seems like an appropriate thing for a "power to the creators" platform. I do find it interesting who does not opt to be open with it on their page

gotta love how often I've heard today something along the lines of "make a telephone call to the unplugged answering machine of your representative, tell them you wont cast your vote for them in the future! get real aggressive and scare em!" and the people posting "impeach now" you got it guys

i have written so much in the past two weeks, grown as a writer, attempted new styles, non-fiction, poetry, and done some of my best ever fiction; unfortunately I go back to work Monday and that'll all be over

was just cast as Mordecai in this years purim spiel and my first thought was "oy vey" and then when I texted zoii about it she laughed at me and pointed out how fitting it was since every Jewish hero in the entire canon is like "oy vey" at needing to be the hero

this is an incredible artifact for a lot of different reasons but its funny how smoothly it mixes good ideas with bad ones "make women characters less insulting so women feel more welcome" and "design patents and exclusive sports licenses are bad" vs "no more save points, no more loading screens"
Finally found one of my history white whales: A Gamer's Manifesto, an unhinged multi-page rant from c2005 that was passed around message boards like Martin Luther's theses. Ground zero for the internet era of angry gamers who hate everything

having grok apologize for causing a suicide or for generating csam is like finding out that while you're at work your boss beats your wife with a hammer, and when he needs to apologize he puts googly eyes on the hammer and talks out the side of his mouth in his hammer voice "im sowy i hit your wife"

Next one. I only have the things I read left, and I haven't even started it because I ended up doing a full writeup on Dragon Age: Origins that's like 7500 words (will probably drop after the things I read post. Needs editing)

people are being too harsh. he's a guy who occupies every moment thinking about his biology, this is as sweet and romantic as it gets in that route, i see the vision, i get what he means, it even kind of works if you stop trying to be weirded out...
gotta pick her up from the airport though bro cmon
I am begging everyone on here to read this new post by Bryan Johnson — the super rich tech guy who is now doing the “never die” protocol.

I need to talk about it with you all.

if anyone is curious why I haven't played Planescape Torment this explains it. i tried more than once, i just bounced off it real hard for these reasons
New article time!

This one's about Planescape: Torment. I was commissioned to cover it, so I have. I was... disappointed to find I didn't really like the game. I tried not to be too mean, but I really, really disliked this game's treatment off women.

okay here’s the one about planescape
Over the years, I have taken some commissions to write about various video games. One of those was to write about Planescape: Torment, and…

I'm going to try and get in the habit of writing these sorts of things. It's good for my memory, and best of all it's growing my writing skills. Non-fiction is such a different beast, and I am finding I have room to grow in a new voice, skills to learn

insane how good we had it in the end of the 20th century. for thousands of years weve had to make stories that asked "what if for once the bad guy didn't win" then finally for like 25 years we got "woah, what if the bad guy won?" anyway, thats over
December 27, 2025 at 8:58 PM
despite all our innovations in gaming, and even despite crpgs having their resurgence, Dragon Age Origins has better pacing than any crpg that crests 30 hours made since. lost art

Jews in the 40's: what if someone really did have the power to help everyone we wanted to help and could try to apply justice to the world

white people when superheroes got big: if people had godly power they would be evil, this is the realism of this genre, that people are inherently evil

what the fuck why would I care to read your books if you're just posting bullshit NYT articles in the middle? if you're using a software that hallucinates information to "learn" about mars? "I hate writing these" then don't fucking put it in your book? the fuck?
Well, that's bullshit. Research IS writing.

Here's another use case:

Each chapter begins with an article. In the previous books, and the vast majority of this one, I use the NY Times archives to find a comparable article and tweak it.

I haaaaaate writing these.

yo we need a chanukah strategy game about doing guerilla warface, directing troops against the greeks etc. 4x or rts would be dope
December 20, 2025 at 4:13 PM
best thing about Hanukkah is that it's right next to Christmas which (in the US) is an all consuming thing begging everyone to just celebrate, just say merry Christmas, its fine it comes from pagan shit just put up a stocking... and Hanukkah is about not conforming

saw someone mention a book on their top of the year that really intrigued me. About erasure of language & culture in a middle eastern setting, that sort of thing. Then saw it was from a christian woman from the midwest who is in the military and studied "middle eastern language" no fucking thanks
