Looking to talk about LFC, AEW and MCU.
I agree with you but I think Arne Slot sees an emergency like...

'I will play my first team players and use Gomez/Chinese as substitutes but if my first team players are injured, I will start Gomez/Chiesa because it is now an emergency and I have no one else.'

He can for now.

We will need to rely on Szoboszlai, Mac Allister, Jones and Bajcetic to stay close to Gravenberch, whilst Frimpong, Bradley, Kerkez and Robertson stay wide and offer options in space, until we can find a top quality defensive midfielder. In January or the summer transfer window.

I think Arne Slot wants to keep players fit, so they are available in emergencies when injuries occur.

Joe Gomez and Federico Chiesa should be playing ahead of Ibrahima Konate and Mohamed Salah right now but Gomez and Chiesa are unable to play three games a week. So Slot keeps them rested, for now.

4-1-2-1-2

I think people could argue it is a 3-4-3 but that's because the wing backs and centre midfielders are going box-to-box throughout the game.

I disagree, mate. The 4-3-3 should suit everyone but it doesn't.

Our wing backs can't bomb forward because our centre midfielders are not covering, which is leaving our centre backs to be exposed.

Our centre forward isn't dropping into deeper areas, which means our midfield is getting outnumbered.

I can definitely see an argument that issues started to creep in at the end of last season.

My point though was we were keeping games close at the start of this season but now we are losing games by three goals. So whatever we have changed, it hasn't worked and actually made us worse.

I think what I see is that we managed to win the Premier League last season.

Being close to safety in the Premier League and the Champions League means I have faith he can still turn it around.

If we get knocked out of the champions league and are 11 points behind the team in fourth, then he goes.

For me, it's how close we are to being okay in the Premier League and Champions League.

We are five points off Chelsea in 2nd and three points off Aston Villa in 4th.

We are three points off PSG in 2nd and one point off Sporting Lisbon in 8th.

Slot can still save this season if he gets it right.

I agree with you on Ryan Gravenberch as a defensive midfielder. He is still a quality player and can play that role to a high level, as we saw last season when he was the best DM in the Premier League.

However, I think Gravenberch will compete with Alexis Mac Allister as our CM and we buy a top DM.
November 28, 2025 at 8:56 PM
I disagree with you on this, mate.

Jeremie Frimpong was bought to be the starting right back, maybe to compete with Conor Bradley for the role but he was definitely not meant to be just a utility player.
November 28, 2025 at 8:53 PM
When I say I would love to see Calvin Ramsay at right back, I specifically mean when Jeremie Frimpong and Conor Bradley are out of the team due to injury. I would love to be able to play a right back at right back and leave our midfielders to play in the positions they are now more comfortable with.

What did Trent do that you don't think Ibou is doing to #LFC?
November 28, 2025 at 2:53 PM
I would love to see Calvin Ramsay playing right back but there must be a reason Arne Slot is playing Dominik Szoboszlai and Curtis Jones there instead of Ramsay.

I believe with Wataru Endo at right back, we would have a defensive player who is able to drift into midfield and can pass the ball well.
