What's interesting here is that all of this is the result of the switch to HMOs, something that was touted by the HMO industry as a way to control prices. When I was growing up, the norm was mutual insurance that made no attempt to control prices.

There's an easy out: point out that in the US justice system "accused of" is not equivalent to "convicted of" and it's not the ISP's place to act as judge and jury deciding whether an accusation merits a conviction.

I think the reasoning is clear: the Legislature knows the appeal will go nowhere, they're having no luck with their initiative, their only option is to keep the question open and try to be allowed to use the gerrymandered map as long as possible. They're cooked.

Why haven’t GOP legislators appealed the redistricting rulings? Even the judge in the case wonders.
Judge Dianna Gibson says her redistricting rulings should go to the Utah Supreme Court for review and scolds GOP lawmakers for not appealing sooner.

I'd love to change tax law so that proceeds from loans secured by tangible property (or used to purchase tangible property which would be security for the loan, eg. mortgages and car loans) would be non-taxable (and payments not tax-deductible). Loans not secured by tangible property WOULD be...

I think a lot of it is recognizing that Congress will be controlled by the Democrats after the mid-terms, and these Republicans are moving to offices where they can depend on state-level control to help them as opposed to fighting a losing fight in Congress.

What I find interesting about this ruling is that it's the first time where this Court has addressed the critical points of "What does the law say?" and "What's the likely outcome?". I think Roberts and the others might be getting a clue finally.
BREAKING: The Supreme Court rejects the Trump administration’s request to deploy National Guard troops in Illinois at this time, over the dissenting votes of Justices Thomas, Alito, and Gorsuch.

I just found this about Jonathan Bailey VO from an updated article, it's at the bottom.

Update, 12/19/25, 9:15 a.m.: A representative of Bailey told Kotaku that he “won’t be commenting or participating in any interviews regarding FF XIV” at this time.

The people I want to interact with on social media tend to be the sort who don't want videos because they're very much a non-interactive unidirectional channel and a low-bandwidth one at that.
okay somehow this totally banal observation about the relative scale and influence of social media platforms has made some people extremely mad
i have said this before but if you are actually interested in influencing people beyond a narrow circle of too-online journalists you will be making direct to camera videos on tiktok, instagram and youtube. if you primarily post on text-based social media then you're just dicking around.
