One would hope the obvious fact that a crazy racist billionaire can reprogram an AI bot to also be crazy racist in the blink of an eye will make anyone pause just a sec before they open up any other AI tool and treat it as gospel.

Saddened by the news we lost another great film&tv composer, MARK SNOW. This one hits a little more as THE X-FILES is one - if not the one - of my favorite shows ever and his music was so instrumental to make that show what it was.

Insane to me that a group of people who were like 'I'd rather die than let the gov't inject secret chips into us' are going to go all in for 'the government is fastening a device to my body that monitors all my vitals and the gov't gets to observe the information that comes in'

One of the most anticipated exhibitions of the year opened at Prague's DOX on Wednesday evening 18.06.2025. It introduces the little-known artwork of David Lynch, director of Twin Peaks 🙂

I suspect that fact that the vast majority of LLM users don’t seem to have received this (really very simple!) message is because the AI companies have a vested interest in us not understanding it. “ChatGPT is smart, it just makes mistakes sometimes” is much more marketable than the truth.
Chatbots — LLMs — do not know facts and are not designed to be able to accurately answer factual questions. They are designed to find and mimic patterns of words, probabilistically. When they’re “right” it’s because correct things are often written down, so those patterns are frequent. That’s all.

"Working with David, so much happens on the day. It’s sort of like, he gets an idea: 'Can we shoot in reverse? Can we get a crane? Can we have lightning?' Peter Deming talks to Nick Newman about his career as David Lynch's cinematographer in an expansive new interview:
Peter Deming on a Life with David Lynch Through Lost Highway, Mulholland Dr., Twin Peaks, and Unrecorded Night
For as singular, unprecedented, non-pareil an artist David Lynch may have been, his complete vision would be achieved with a small band of trusted collaborators. Chief among them was Peter Deming, who...

Brian Wilson was my friend and my brother in songwriting.
We shared a similar sensibility, as evidenced by his 4 over 5 chord under “Aaaah!” in "Good Vibrations” and mine under "I’m into something good.”
We once discussed who used it first, and in the end we decided it didn’t matter.
