Say it with me: we would not be seeing this authoritarian censorship takeover in the United States, had both parties, the media and elite institutions not already greased the path with the muzzling of speech on Palestine.

Shocked that an AIPAC plant, having shown a willingness to be bribed, also thinks Republicans have good ideas about crypto and that the industry is misunderstood!*

*Also applies to John Fetterman, Hakeem Jeffries, Jake Auchincloss, Josh Gottheimer, Tom Suozzi, Dan Goldman...

Too many people are waiting around for a system that wasn’t built for them, to suddenly start protecting them. No one is coming to rescue us from this insanity- not the Dems, not the Repubs who "come to their senses," not any NGOs or outside countries. We're the only ones who can change this course.

Happening now: protesters are outside the Fine Arts Building on Michigan Avenue in downtown Chicago this evening.

People are in line to see House of Reps Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries for an event tonight promoting his recently released book.

Crowd chanting at them, "we don't need a book tour!"

Careful what you post: ICE is seeking private contractors to conduct social media surveillance including detection of merely "negative" sentiment about the agency's leadership, agents, and general operations theintercept.com/2025/02/11/i...

Keep things like this in mind as you enjoy a sporting event in New Orleans like the Superbowl. Louisiana put millions into sweeping homeless people off the streets so they would be free of the unsightly poor for visitors & putting them into warehouses in inhumane conditions.
Louisiana coerced unhoused people into an unheated warehouse – and paid $17.5m for it
Dozens of New Orleanians were bused to a site with insufficient heating and blankets days before the city is to host the Super Bowl

Trump’s second coming can’t be understood without turning our gaze outward, toward a broader geography of U.S. state violence.

This is my favorite picture of Stonewall.

They knew they were getting arrested just for being LGBTQ+.

Yet... they're still here, standing outside of the boarded up Stonewall Inn, smiling as the world was at a fever pitch of hatred against them.

I think about it a lot in moments like this.

Totalitarianism and fascism find footholds not DESPITE its leaders and supporters being the dumbest, most incurious & howlingly wrong ghouls but BECAUSE they are.
Hannah Arendt perfectly explains how authoritarianism works.
