Pete Hegseth and other "Christian Nationalists" want to see women as mere passive bearers of children. But females provide just over half of the genetic input to their sons -- since dads' Y's are smaller than moms' X's -- and exactly half that of their two-X daughters. Sounds significant to me.

The IAEA thinks Iran had nearly 900 pounds of highly enriched uranium. We don't know where it is now. Some in the media have wondered whether it was destroyed. But YOU CAN'T DESYROY IT, short of exploding it in a nuclear bomb. If you burn it, for example, the U-235 is still U-235. It's somewhere.

Tragically, two young Israelis were just murdered in Washington DC. Horribly, about 1,450 Israelis were killed or captured by Hamas on 10/7/2023. But since then, about 53,000 Gazans have died in Israeli attacks. Many more are facing starvation now. Don’t we owe them some horror and some support?

The penny is being phased out. It became the lowest denomination U.S. coin in 1857. At that time, its purchasing power was about that of 36 present-day cents. So we could reasonably also get rid of the nickel and the dime now. Dollar coins would make a great deal more sense than paper ones, too.

Should mental health counseling be offered to billionaires who believe that they need and deserve tax cuts? Might their pathologies parallel those of people who are compelled to keep eating long after their nutritional needs are satisfied? Might drugs analogous to the GLP-1 diet series be effective?

Harvard is not in business to be profitable and pay dividends. Elon Musk's Tesla IS in business with those goals. If Trump can revoke Harvard's tax-exempt status because he doesn't like it, can he decree Tesla tax-exempt because he DOES like it? Heck: with a dictator, who needs laws?

As markets approach their Trump-tariff bottom, WACH OUT. First, the Pres and his buddies (e.g. Elon) will buy up equities at fire sale prices. Next, he'll decree that the tariffs have done their job – and cancel them. Then, the very people who created the disaster will benefit most from the rebound.

A second child has now died in the West Texas measles outbreak. Parents presumably made conscious decisions to deny these children the safe, effective MMR vaccine. If this was because of religious convictions, is it fair to call the deaths human / child sacrifice?

Something morbid - and maybe permanent - has happened to the souls of congressional Republicans. They can no longer wash away the stench of the Trumpian cesspool in which they have wallowed for ten years. Their noses no longer register the smell.

Knowledgeable people are saying that Trump’s trade war will lead to "recession AND inflation." The likeliest explanation is that THIS IS HIS GOAL." We should all be asking, "Why? Who wins?"

Trump aide Peter Navarro says tariffs could bring in $6 trillion over a decade, offsetting other tax cuts. But tariffs are regressive sales taxes. Substituting these for progressive income taxes shifts the burden away from the wealthy onto the backs of the poor and working classes. Not an accident!

A web search for “mRNA Vaccine Plasmodium falciparum” finds promising early work to develop messenger RNA malaria vaccines. Multiple clinical trials of mRNA cancer therapies show great promise. BUT researchers are cautioned NOT to say “mRNA” in grant applications: RFK Jr. doesn’t like it. I’m sick.
