Cloud/Ops, likes to fix stuff, occasionally plays games, follows too many and not enough artists
It's covered by the CPU heatsink but it doesn't make contact as there is no bump for it like for the other chips (circled where the bump should be). A thicker thermal tape would probably fix the contact issue.
The RAM (4 top) and eMMC (right) chips lack thermal tape, but I doubt they get overly hot.

Looked up that chip and it's:
RT5074A - Power Management Units for INTEL APL Platform

Chance this one overheated and bit the dust? 🤔 It's still pushing 3.3V to the power button but it didn't heat up past room temp AT ALL when attempting to power on.

About a year into owning this cute thing it stopps powering on 😥

I thought it would be the cheap wall wart PSU, but it gives 12V and doesn't drop when powering in the PC. Power button has 3.3V...
Anyone have any ideas on what could be dead? Nothing burnt/cracked. No high temp chips anywhere 🤔 BIOS?

Was able to get some time to fix the monitor supports today and lock mechanism (hidden by the control panel). It's only 78.5cm tall, ground to top back corner.

Here it is somewhat assembled. It's slowly getting there 😊

Also was able to cut the bottom cover for the control panel.

Adding an extra shot of the tiny cab for those that don't know what a tiny Dagashiya looks like.

Due to canceled plans, I was able to put a few hours into my long running project: Dagashiya candy cab.

I initially miscalculated the tube height so I had to remove the supports and sand down the glue to move them lower.

Also successfully cut the tube mount to the proper size/angle. Took 10 cuts 😵‍💫

It's €59.99 in Spain 😵
€69.99 for the "deluxe" version...

Made some progress on my candy cab: speaker mounts and fabric cut. The blue should go well with the cab sides and srick/buttons. Not exact match, but should be good enough.

Now just need to get proper length screws to mount them. Probably some anti-vibration washers too, if I can find them locally.

I just picked up a beautiful clean B&O MX4002 with remote!

These things almost never show up around here, usually Barcelona and Madrid and ofc no one wants to ship them. This one popped up for sale about 24h ago and now I own it 🥳

All my consoles are boxed up so I can't test now, but will soon!

Went to Pepco the other day to pick up some pots and found a brand new Brick Game for €4. Back side says officially licensed for Pepco.

Wife had one of these as a kid, so of course we picked it up! I can't be the only one buying stuff for nostalgia sake 😅

Arcade machine done!
The other sets are still in progress 😅

It was a fun build, but will probably update the decor at some point.
The tv is very B&O Beovision-ish 😁

Family time initiated 😅

Passed by the Lego store yesterday right before the recycling truck and snagged this pile of boxes.

We need boxes for packing, so why not use boxes that spark joy when you see them?

Son was _not_ amused when he realized we only brought home empty boxes 😅

I got myself matte purple Kanto Ora's about 2 weeks back and I've got to say I really like them.

Currently only using them on my laptop, but will pair with my CRTs when playing.

Bass is on the weak side, but that's to be expected with the 3" drivers.

The color is a brighter purple than the GC.

I got their Chameleon Purple Blue joy-con and dock shells 2 years back.

I love them, but the joy-cons were a pain in the butt to do. Nothing wrong with the kits, it's just how Nintendo designed the joy-cons.

The joy-cons are still nicer to work with than Wiimotes though 😅

Aaaaaaah, I forgot @misirajeduart.bsky.social's amazing cables 🤦
How could I forget them? I feel horrible now 😓

They really are amazingly built and I highly recommend them.

I still need to work out what I want to do with the 32X shielding, the only nickeling guy I found only works when I do, so will need to take half a day off from work to see if it's even doable 😥

Also, if anyone wants/needs the Mega Drive heatsink, I'm happy to send it to a new home.
May 17, 2025 at 1:06 PM
And a close up of the new 32X label I vectored and @retrofied.uk wonderfully reproduced.
I'm really happy with how this came out.

Region mods from @consolemods.bsky.social for both the Mega Drive and the 32X,

Power mods (dual buck converter and 32X buzzkill) from @zaxour.bsky.social.

My Mega Drive is electronically done as far as repairs/mods go.

While inspecting the board I realized it's missing CB8/9/15/16... Looks like they were ripped off 🤦

Any chance you know the values for these?

Grabbed Metal Slug Tactics and Prince of Persia for the Switch while walking around a mall yesterday.

Bsky won't let me search posts of people I follow so I can't find who recommended PoP earlier, but it's €20 at FNAC (also @xtralife.es) so might be worth getting now if you were thinking about it.

All 4 controllers from Japan are now clean and ready to use. Took me ~2h to clean the emerald and orange ones today.

I did take a small detour down a rabbit hole on pcb and stickbox versions. I may need to upgrade the orange one I keep.

Also have 3 more black ones to clean up 😵‍💫

GameCube controller 1 (of many):
Came in grey with a worn out left stick.

A good clean, a few days vaporbrighting in the sun, a new stick and it's good as new.

Was originally planning on selling it, but it came out so nice and I don't have a purple one so I'm keeping it 😅

Last update on this:
Another 2 days in the sun (rain yesterday) and it's as good as it's going to get. Faint difference in color can be seen with the naked eye, not so much on camera.

Also removed the black mark on the DPad with my handy eraser.
