I try to find even the slightest glimmers of joy in those dreadful times. Trump being slightly bent back into shape by the overarching interests of the US and NATO brings me that joy. The awful deep State (ie: reality) finds a way.

Per Wikipedia russia had 48,166 470 men in the age 15-64 cohort as of 1 Jan 2024. So about one in 50 men are either buried or missing a limb there. Catastrophic level of losses for their gains.
According to the British Ministry of Defense, the Kremlin is almost certainly prepared to tolerate continuously high casualty rates so long as this does not negatively affect public or elite support for the war, and those losses can be replaced.
