The current US president is a practical analphabet unable to think an original thought. All of his actions are driven by his narcissistic psychopathology or special interest groups which can steer his narcissism for their gain. No further analysis is needed.
Trump: "There are windmills all over Europe. There are windmills all over the place. And they are losers. One thing I've noticed is that the more windmills a country has, the more money that country loses, and the worse that country is doing. I haven't been able to find any wind farms in China."

American lack of knowledge about the world prevents them from seeing how quickly their country slid back to a authoritarian caricature of a state.
This is a real photograph of Washington, DC this week, where the United States president has ordered military occupation in peacetime, and ordered the display of colossal portraits of himself.

Ukrainians are gathering in the streets to protest against gutting of the anti-corruption institutions ALL THE WHILE THEIR CITIES ARE BOMBARDED BY RUSSIAN DRONES.
Protests are continuing across the country. No one in civil society is praising this action.

Whoever can explain the Star Wars themed animation in the background gets a high five.
Russian state TV has aired a new "exposé": it turns out that Azerbaijani special services, "using their diasporas in Russia, assisted Ukrainian intelligence in carrying out the sabotage-terrorist operation Spiderweb, which aimed to strike Russia's strategic air force."

I try to find even the slightest glimmers of joy in those dreadful times. Trump being slightly bent back into shape by the overarching interests of the US and NATO brings me that joy. The awful deep State (ie: reality) finds a way.
COLLINS: Did you approve of the pause of weapons shipments to Ukraine?

TRUMP: We want to put defensive weapons because Putin is not treating human beings right

COLLINS: So who ordered the pause?

TRUMP: I don't know. Why don't you tell me?

“If it weren’t for me, lots of really bad things would have already happened to russia.”
That’s not a threat. That’s a confession.

Per Wikipedia russia had 48,166 470 men in the age 15-64 cohort as of 1 Jan 2024. So about one in 50 men are either buried or missing a limb there. Catastrophic level of losses for their gains.
According to the British Ministry of Defense, the Kremlin is almost certainly prepared to tolerate continuously high casualty rates so long as this does not negatively affect public or elite support for the war, and those losses can be replaced.

This lady sounds drunk or cognitively impaired due to some medical condition.
Former advisor to Trump Jan Halper-Hayes says on LBC that Putin “violated international law” but she doesn’t agree that he “morally was wrong” to do so, and that that was “three years ago anyway”, and points at the fact that Ukraine “still sends drones to Russia”. She then promptly hung up.
