Did you know gas exports not only drive your gas bills, but your electricity bills also?

Even though gas is only 5% of electricity in the National Electricity Market (NEM), it sets the electricity price because gas is so expensive.

China continues to move away from the dollar. It’s just cut its holdings of US government bonds to the lowest level in 17 years.

China's US Treasury holdings fell to $689.3 billion in October 2025, down from $700.5 billion in September.

I wish I didn’t have to share this. But the BBC has decided to censor my first Reith Lecture.

They deleted the line in which I describe Donald Trump as “the most openly corrupt president in American history.” /1

"Ley said the fact that Watt was simultaneously negotiating with the Coalition & the Greens showed that his main motivation was a “political fix”.

“Right now, we have an environment minister with two sets of amendments, one in each hand. They’re radically different, these amendments”

Australia’s longest and deadliest conflict is no longer deniable. The Australian Wars gathers generations of research and testimony into one defining volume — and makes clear that the truth is here. Time to reckon with it. #FrontierWars #TruthTelling #TheAustralianWars #PearlsandIrritations
Massacres, memory and the Memorial: facing our most deadly war
The evidence is overwhelming – Australia’s Frontier Wars were real, deadly, and long, and a landmark new book lays it out in full. So when will the Australian War Memorial fully face the truth?

Narrabri is really irrelevant to the domgas problem - without export controls it wont make a difference, and with export controls it's not needed

Labor assuming the industry pressure on LNP to agree to a deal right now is greater than the LNP incentive not to waive through their legislation as they are demanding.

Bowen may have a promise of having complete control over #cop31 negotiations, but what's to stop Turkiye from getting up to shenanigans in the background, given they are the actual host?

niche unpopular climate take - the "Australia clause" in the Kyoto Protocol makes good sense, the problem was that Australia should have been expected to set a much deeper target as a result. our first Kyoto target was an 8% increase!

I was once a senior public servant. FOI laws don’t discourage frank, fearless advice. They discourage BAD advice.

Bureaucrats mostly hate them (a lot) because they take up so much time. But it’s nothing to do with not wanting to be seen giving frank, fearless advice.
Labor is using robodebt to justify curtailing freedom of information laws. It's grubby, self-interested — and easily disproven.

The last two climate talks were literally run by national oil companies. What did they do to get the hosting rights that the Australian petrostate fail to do?
