I was delighted to meet with Alistair Griffiths, the Director of Science and Collections at the RHS. With all five RHS gardens now 100% peat-free it’s clear the industry can adapt. My Horticultural Peat (Prohibition of Sale) Bill will ensure we protect peatlands & drive lasting environmental change.

79 people shot in Gaza over the weekend: There is no excuse for starving people and then opening fire on civilians desperately lining up for food. None.

Congress must not give Netanyahu another penny of unconditional military aid.

Horrific scenes in #Gaza, with hundreds killed just for seeking aid; people are #starving and forcibly displaced; and senior Israeli officials use dehumanising language, proposing to concentrate Gazans into a mass detention camp.

This has to stop and we must prevent #genocide.

Very good to hear.

Incidentally, I am astounded that BBC News cut away from the most important quarterly bit of PM scrutiny 10m before it ended. Especially after showing the Farage inane gulag announcement live and in full.

Don't remember them ever doing that when Johnson - or any PM - was on. 🤨
PM tells @emilythornberry.bsky.social at Liaison C'tee that the EU Summit is yearly "not just to monitor progress but to go further" each year. Hints that medicines and artists' touring visas are very much on the menu of "common sense changes... that have very little to do with the vote in 2016".~AA

Whatever righteous anger the Israeli gov't may have felt almost two years ago, whatever justification, whatever provocation, whatever sophistry - it has fallen away now. What is done is nakedly genocidal and cannot be borne.

I am sickened by it and sickened by how "normal" it's presented as. 2/2

I've wanted to say something on Gaza for days, but nothing seems adequate. Still, I must.

I cannot fathom a more perverse or wicked policy - and it's happened too many times not be policy - of starving people, then shooting them as they try to get food from an "aid" location, set up as a trap. 1/2

Glastonbury & Somerton is home to fantastic breweries like Fine Tuned Brewery in Somerton. Sustainability is vital, but the current EPR structure risks harming producers by making them responsible for packaging they don’t produce. Yesterday I pressed the Govt on EPR’s escalating costs for producers.
