Thinking a lot about the international student in my senior thesis class who was absolutely terrified of police here in the US (doubly so of ICE) because they seemed just as corrupt if not worse than the corrupt police in her home country and the militarization of our own was plain as day to her.

the reason i share these interactions is because i do want to highlight how difficult it is for a venezuelan to speak up. the world ignores us until it's convenient for them to talk about us, and then they try to speak over us.

I believe I will block any foreign communist who utters the word "gusano" from now on. I love the first skeet looking for that word is some strawman mocking the Venezuelan Diáspora and thinking the people who remain in the country all supported Maduro.
