still shaking the rust off - i know i'm not a very technically skilled guitarist, but this is maybe the best i've ever played this solo even though i've only been actively playing again for the past few days after some months of only rarely touching the guitar, so i'm pretty fuckin' happy already.

Hard disk likely unrecoverable. Thankfully i was able to find a 22-year old LiveJournal post with the lyrics and chords to the song i really wanted to extract. So i'll just relearn it and do it over. The only other option is to spend days searching for backup discs and replace the HDD, etc. NOPE.
