the growing opposition to nsfw in art and writing communities is not only an uncomfortable bellweather for the social climate, but also personally isolating. excising nudity, humanity, desire from art is antithetical to art making. it prioritizes marketability over the marginalized.

if you are protesting now or in the future be safe and remember:

• do not announce you're attending online
• do not sign any online RSVP
• wear a mask
• wear clothes that don't draw attention
• leave your phone at home
• bring bottled water
• do not speak to cops
• do not post photos after

USE. INVOICES.

For the love of god. Not only is it more convenient (the buyer doesn't need a PayPal account to pay it; any debit/credit card will work), you control exactly what shows up on the invoice so you don't risk a horny dipshit getting you banned by saying "thanks for the porn" or whatever.
Always a good moment to remind it, but NEVER mention nsfw/adult content when doing payments through any platform (like paypal). Be as generic as possible.

He proposes releasing some ICE prisoners to labor on farms where the employers will “own them” and be responsible for them.

Historians have spent decades meticulously proving the straight line between slavery and modern capitalism’s concept of the laborer—or we could just let them say it.
The camp is to filter out workers for Trumps new Slavery policy where he sells them to businesses.
He says so in this video

Real talk: I think it is *incredibly* helpful and formative for all cis people to question their gender identity from a position of "what if I'm *not* cis?" It helps immeasurably with your relationship with gender, even though chances are you end up at "yup, cis af"

We know this is caused by pressure put on itch by Christian group Collective Shout.

There are countless Bible passages you could point at for each of these bullet points that would make this group’s core text unpublishable.

There is no good faith here. It is all in service of queer censorship.
itch has quietly updated the creator FAQ with new adult content guidelines

In the midst of MasterCard and Visa being bootlickers to ultraconservative pricks like Collective Shout and trying to ban NSFW transactions with their services, I will simply post this eloquent comment I saw on a MoistCritikal video.

With all that bullshit about Collective Shout happening rn i want that stupid fuck who smarmily uploaded a scolding "tutorial on how to write consensual sex" to the ZB1 tag on Ao3 and then stated that Australia's obscenity laws should be replicated everywhere to never post again in their stupid life

THIS IS WHY PEOPLE SOUND THE ALARM ON "ANTI-KINK" RHETORIC! GENDER CRITICAL RADFEM GROUPS ARE ALWAYS THE FIRST ONES AT THE SCENE PUSHING THIS BULLSHIT
"Collective Shout- MYTH: What consenting adults do is up to them"
These are the people who take sexual agency away from already marginalized adults‼️

Always worth reiterating that the Online Safety Act is primarily the work - and I use that word reluctantly in this instance - of an administration who told us all to mind our own business when one of their number was seen watching pornography on his phone in the House of Commons.

the UK’s Internet age verification law has led to the effective censorship of all LGBT content on Reddit

what a shocking and unexpected turn of events!

I have this conversation every time this comes up. It's infuriating. Also on the online safety act which none of you paid any fuckin attention to when you could have done something about it and it was left to sex workers to ring the alarm bells.

Get mad at Collective Shout, get mad at legislation such as the UK's Online Safety Act and international equivalents. Don't give random Steam/itch employees a hard time. I don't think they can do anything, really.

If you're in the UK, you now need to verify that you're an adult in order to send DMs, including to this account.

This isn't in our control or a decision that Bluesky has made independently; they've been forced to do it by the Online Safety Act

UK Online Safety Bill will mandate dangerous age verification for much of the web
Under new age verification rules in the UK’s massive Online Safety Bill, all internet platforms with UK users will have to stop minors from accessing ‘harmful’ content, as defined by the UK Parliament...

And then they might end up banning VPNs if this little Online Safety Act experiment fails because of it (it probably will), meaning people who have actual legitimate purposes for VPNs get fucked over, the tech industry suffers, and people (including teenagers) will *still find a way*.
