It's not massive - it's a hilly area where I don't bike often - but I like this project. So Cal just needs about 5,000 more of these asphalt-to-green projects, & we get a healthy river! Each one is a worthwhile step!

If you want to get upset about something read this CalMatters series on road deaths in California is sobering. Amazing journalism. I hope it leads to change. Can you imagine if 40,000 people died in 10 years from anything else. The response would be astronomical.

The “we can’t possibly build more homes because our infrastructure isn’t perfect” argument is ubiquitous in San Francisco housing debates.
It’s effectively saying “sorry, no home for you until all infrastructure is perfect — go live 100 miles away.”

Some years ago LA upzoned a single family area next to the Expo/Bundy station. 20 homeowners sold their property at huge profits to developers and now they’re turning into 600 new apartments.
Hopefully we’ll see projects like this all over the state in coming years now that SB79 has legalized them.

People love to hate on the California High Speed Rail but the first segment is happening and we should do everything we can to build it as fast as possible. The faster we build it the faster we get cars off the road, the faster our air will be cleaner. @governor.ca.gov Build the rail!

Metro ridership was more than 1 million in May 2025 - which was the 30th consecutive month of increased ridership.
As of May 2025 Metro ridership increased (for same month year-to-year) for 30 consecutive months. May 2025 daily weekday boardings were just over 1 million - 1,003,486. (I think that's just the 3rd month 1M+ ridership in COVID era.) Lots of people are riding Metro!

I know this is not as egregious as people getting disappeared by ICE or sent to the hospital by the cops, but it’s worth mentioning that LAPD has essentially stranded hundreds of thousands of Angelenos by banning all Metro lines and busses from going through DTLA.
