The National Weather Service announced that a deadly North Dakota tornado this summer has been assessed as a 5 on the enhanced Fujita scale, with wind speeds greater than 210 miles per hour. It’s the first time since 2013 that a tornado has been given the highest possible rating.

Once again, it appears the Gateway tunnel projects have become a political football for the Trump administration.

Despite 10 months of supporting the projects, the decision to review its DBE requirements came Oct. 1 -- the first day of the gov shutdown.
Some federal reimbursements for the Gateway Tunnel project are paused. Here's why
The U.S. Department of Transportation is pausing reimbursements for Gateway amid a review of "race- and sex-based contracting requirements."

NJ PBS shutting down next summer.

“15yrs ago Gov. Christie ended 4 decades of state funding for public TV, forcing them to find a new funder. The state cut $750k in funding this yr, but that was hardly the fatal blow; that came from the end of federal funds.”

If you wondered why Zelenskyy held his tongue during those disgraceful Oval Office meetings…

Maybe he figured Trump was a mercurial, transactional dipshit and sooner or later he’d utterly contradict himself.

I give the MTA and Metro North credit for trying something out.

Nj Transit can’t even bring back Shore Express trains during the summer.
thelirrtoday.com
This is very good, it's important that MTA's railroads are drilling into schedules and running times to cut down travel times, especially for these longer-haul commutes.

Hopefully this is not a repeat of the LIRR's 59 minute Ronkonkoma express debacle... www.mta.info/press-releas...

Tech companies are scrambling to contact their visa-holding employees who happen to be overseas today amid Trump’s sudden policy change. That may mean getting them to the closest US soil, like Guam or Hawaii, or to a place like Abu Dhabi that has an immigration facility.

"They're trying to figure out if it's better for them to get to Guam or Hawaii, just out of sheer desperation because it's not that easy to be able to find immediate international flights back to the U.S. depending on where you are," Anver said.
Posts across social media attested to travel chaos, with people describing being pulled from meetings and immediately sent to the airport. Some travelers were trying to connect through Abu Dhabi, where they can pass through U.S. immigration before arriving in America.
Others said they were canceling trips out of the U.S.
