I think almost everyone is capable of imagining a life so different from their own. But they have to choose to do so. And then they have to choose to act on that perspective. So there's a filter, but I think we both know people who have passed that filter.

No group that is antithetical to inclusion of any part of the LGBTQIA+ will be offered space in Meeting Houses, guidance has gone out.
Just got off the phone with a trans fFriend in her 70s, she was crying with joy.

Plus the constitutionally-protected, tax-exempt, community-respected (usually) meeting spaces make excellent planning, staging, and refuge areas for protests of all sorts. It's passed time to start pushing your local place of worship toward doing the right thing, so let's all start now.

100% agree with that conclusion, for what that's worth. Really miss his perspectives and input on, honestly, everything. A true scientist philosopher.

The point of this semi-coherent thread is to say "something happened today that was frustrating as fuck and I wanna talk about it but can't do that here".
But if any of y'all who see this know me IRL, ask me next time we run into each other. Happy to (over)share face-to-face, being-to-being.

I've never been part of the "My life is an open book so why would I care about what some rando thinks?" crowd or the type of being that is willing to trade away parts of my life or myself for the "feeling" of safety and security. That feeling can be fleeting and is different for everyone.

This isn't due to a need for secrecy by any means, but because of a desire to regain and maintain some semblance of privacy as digital service providers demand more and more of our lives in trade for "free" or "necessary" things.

The funny part about that is that some of the people I follow, and some who follow me, are known to me IRL through various events and social media platforms we've shared experiences through. So it makes me extra circumspect when posting about myself or anyone in my current social circle.

like, me going through my average chronic pain is bad, and it has fucked me up, and I need to be acutely aware of how it's fucked me up, but like, if one of my friends breaks an arm, it'll heal, sure, but it's still _bad_ even if my frame of reference is more severe. don't downplay it.

next bit is talking about how people compare traumas--this is one reason why when people tell me "well, I don't have it as bad as you, but..." I always try to gently remind them "but that was still bad and you shouldn't have had to go through that"
