Mike Hajar, an Edmonton-based pest control technician, said cockroach infestations do not start in the kitchen. “People bring them in either with groceries or clothing.”

"Health inspectors visited five times over the summer and saw evidence of cockroaches at each visit. Yet the restaurant was allowed to stay open. At one point, a customer saw a staff member step on a cockroach, sweep it under a floor mat, the inspector’s report reveals."
