the fastest way to kill motivation is to make your identity depend on the outcome. it's called ego involvement. when failing becomes failing as a person, your brain starts avoiding the whole thing. not because you don't care, but because you care too much.

you don't need lower standards. you need less self-worth tangled up in your goals. the work gets easier when it's not about proving who you are.

In my experience, 'Quality over Quantity' has been a phrase that's been overused to criticize people who choose Quantity

but it should still be a choice~ and if I wanna make art for all my OCs, I'm choosing Quantity

I've had to deal with a lot of shame as an artist

comparing myself to famous manga artists who make thousands of pages of story in beautiful detail

I want to be like them, but at the same time I'm not them

I love my quickfire drawing ideas
it's alright to choose Quantity over Quality sometimes

I've realized as time goes on: in order to create the huge amount of ideas I have in my imagination, I want to adjust the time spent / energy required for the drawings I do--

for example in my Wall of OCs, just drawing them as line art avatarshots, instead of full body full color art for each

but I finished 72 characters for my Wall of OCs! After a few days

These are OCs I first made as early as 2009, to as recent as this year. 💕 I love them all. I was rambling on stream about them.

It's still me! And I enjoy drawing whatever I like with the same care and passion.

you're right though, I have been successful, and the reason I've been able to do art for a living is because of the people who support me financially

I'll always be thankful for that

I used to play Time Trials in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and just go slooow
Admiring the views
That's how much I wanted free roam

but I think the first time I felt that was playing Battle Mode in Mario Kart 7 (3DS), because you could drive around...Delfino Square was it? Beach town~ #TribLovesVideoGames

Oooh! Actually I do really like the Bowser Castle here too

usually I think the Bowser stages are too samey or tedious in other MK games, but in this one it's really memorable and feels dynamic
