#Halloween #Stargate
A pumpkin on a doorstep, in the dark. It has been carved for Halloween in the shape of the 'Earth' symbol from 'Stargate' - a bit like 2 lines of the sides of a triangle, with a circle above the tip of the triangle. A sinister orange light is emanating from within the pumpkin.

They might be a bit tame by modern standards, but John Christopher wrote two post-apocalyptic trilogies for Young Adults which I loved as a teenager. The first two Tripods books were made in to a tv series by the BBC.

In addition to ‘The Weirdstone of Brisingamen’ which a couple of people have already mentioned and which I loved reading at school; I’d also recommend two trilogies by John Christopher suitable for Young Adults:

The Tripods and Sword of the Spirits, both had a Puffin issue back in the day.
