Fun Fact: Ever heard of the GO Transit Hamilton-Guelph Line? This line was proposed in 1989 by the Think Rail Group, as part of a larger proposal for transit in Ontario.

This line would've travelled from the City of Hamilton to Guelph, linking 3 cities together in the western half of the GTHA.

We asked people to draw their dream ION LRT network at Climate Fest! We talked about Stage 2 ION to Cambridge, and encouraged people to think bolder too!

With the success of ION, we believe the Region needs an ongoing ION expansion program to do stage 2, then get to stages 3, 4, 5, and beyond.

Breslau is slated for a lot of growth by Woolwich Township, so transportation connections probably won’t be surprising. It’s been on Regional plans for a while as well.

We have an amazing opportunity in Waterloo Region to use lessons from our own ION light rail to expand our network. If we can get funding for ION stage 2 at comparable levels to peer projects, good management and procurement could leave enough funds for a whole second line!

The most underappreciated issue in urbanism is the Anglosphere’s transit construction cost problem.

It’s not just that we’re spending too much money on any particular project.

It’s that we could be getting *much more transit* for the *same amount of money we’re currently spending*.
